Philippines extends travel ban (banning Filipinos too?)

Since travel may become more of a mess, I use the below site to track current and past flights to make sure they are really flying.  There are other sites but I tend to gravitate to this one the most.  It could be helpful if you need to get your fiance or spouse on a last minute flight out of the Philippines, you can check and see past history as many airlines will take your booking, but they wont tell you the flight is cancelled until the last minute making it hard to get a refund on flights.  Also, at this time I would not book anything more than 3 months in advance as if the flight is cancelled, you can file a claim with your credit card company and it will still meet their 90 days.  You will find it much easier to get refunded this way instead of waiting 6 months, 1 year etc.

It seems like anything that the Filipino Government touches is overreaching interference.  Right up to the time my wife boarded the plane out of Manila the Government was creating confusion.  They collected tax payments that were already paid, demanded covet testing with facilities that they designated, the CFO requirements were a joke, it just went on and on.  Changing almost daily. The Philippines is being crushed by it's own Government, couple this with an inept Embassy and you have the perfect storm.

"The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved the recommendation to extend until January 31, 2021 the entry travel restrictions and the rules applicable to all travelers coming from or transiting through the following countries/jurisdictions:"

 

 

Parsing that statement very carefully, trying to psychically divine its true meaning,  it could be interpreted that the travel restrictions and rules currently applicable to Filipino travelers will be extended AND the travel restrictions and rules currently applicable to foreign travelers will be extended.  Collectively that covers "all travelers".

Good point! 

 

But this is where it gets messed up, coming from no less than the government's Philippine News Agency:

 

"Filipinos from areas covered by the travel restrictions were initially allowed to come home, on condition that they undergo an “absolute” facility-based 14-day quarantine, notwithstanding a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result.

 

However, the IATF-EID Resolution issued on Thursday states that the temporary travel ban is applicable to “all travelers coming from or transiting” through the banned countries."

 

Your interpretation @top_secret is the most logical, in my opinion. Hopefully it is the case.
