For any sponsors that file jointly, you will need their W-2s in addition to their tax transcripts, since the tax transcripts don't differentiate between income of the two individuals who are filing jointly.

If your sponsor makes enough on his own, then you just need the tax transcript for his and his wife's joint filing, and then his W-2s (I'm assuming you already have the AoS completed with his info).

I told y'all - I knew as soon as I opened the thread today and there were 5 new pages that interview letters had been sent!

I was checking IRS documents with my joint sponsor and noticed 4 types of documents but all called Tax Transcript, I cant recall the exact names but one called Tax Return Transcript, one called Tax wages and salary Transcript and another 2. Do you know which one in specific the consulate needs?

Also do you know if it matters if the petitioner was not working during the past year and we are dependent solely on the joint sponsor (actually petitioner sibling)?

Thank you

Hello everyone. I changed my passport to reflect my married name after DQ. I uploaded it to NVC and they updated it on CEAC. IL letter is received under my married name.
I am trying to register for the interview and wondering which name I should put it under, married or previous? Also passport number - old or new? They have both. TIA

Hi everyone. I received my DQ last year and during the pandemic two things have happened; (1) I moved addresses since DQ, and (2) I changed jobs since DQ. Currently in Toronto with a interview at the consulate on March 29. Are there specific steps I need to take to update my employment and home address before the interview or are there forms that I need to fill out and bring with me on my interview date. Thanks in advance.

So I emailed Dr Cheemas's office first thing Friday morning to schedule an appointment as I imagine everyone else did as well. Can people post here when they get their appointment date from him?

Hello everyone.

I have been a silent member since last year and I finally got my interview on April 7!

I just had a major question that could not figure out: how do we register for biometrics, or do the consulate takes them on the day of the interview?

Thank you in advance to whoever replies.

register for biometrics:

This isn't part of the IR1/CR1 process.

You'll get printed at your consular interview.

People who adjust status and/or file for naturalized citizenship get biometrics appointments... likely there are other reasons as well, but those are the ones at the top of my mind.

And, welcome; thanks for coming out of the shadows! Please complete your timeline here https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=367951

Following because I'm in the same position...I'm the petitioner and havent been working for a year so I'm hoping it's all okay to rely on the joint sponsor. The rule is with he joint sponsor is that they need to make up 125% of the income if the petitioner doesnt meet the required income (without combining incomes). And I think you just need the w2s and the tax return transcripts.

Which taxes documents you need depend on your situation...

Use this: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents.html to help you determine what you need.

There are so many different ways requirements can branch based on your individual case. I may be wrong but as a rule of thumb from reading the threads and Facebook group comments - you will need "Tax Return Transcript" as it shows most line items, including your adjusted gross income (AGI) from your original Form 1040-series tax return as filed, along with any forms and schedules. Basically the complete tax return receipt..

You will need it for the sponsor for sure, since you mentioned you have a joint-sponsor, here's some more fun bureaucracy for you:

- If your joint sponsor filled taxes as single or MFS, you'll need the same documents as your sponsor - their tax return transcript, i-864 and W2.

- If your joint sponsor filled taxes as MFJ,  it depends if they qualify on their own income or the combined income of the joint sponsor and their spouse.

Joint Sponsor income is enough to qualify- you'll need their W2' as the return transcript or 1040 won't show the individual earning, you must show that the person qualifies on their own. In this case it's also good to get "Wage and Income Transcript" from the IRS website as it will similarly proof their individual qualification within the return

Joint Sponsor AND spouse income required to qualify - you'll need the documents for the joint sponsor above as well have the spouse sign I-864A and proof of their domicile.

It really depends on your situation and what documents you can get,  but if it's possible my personal suggestion will be bring ALL supporting documents, 1040s, transcripts, income and wages transcripts and W2's. someone said here (I forgot who to give credit, apologies): "they better be looking at it than for it" so that has been my guide. Maybe it's an overkill and I'm going crazy playing the waiting game for the interview but that's how I choose to view it.

Hope this helps a bit, I can't guarantee I'm covering it all and the travel.state.gov materials are the correct ones to follow.

Hello everyone,

For those who entered the U.S. through land-border crossing, I have a question:

If I am importing the car with me, do I need to have any document other than Canadian registration, DOT form HS-7, EPA Form 3250 and customs form and FMVSS compliance letter from the manufacturer?

Also, if my car has the EPA label, do I still need to present the EPA form?

Where can I access these forms?

Do I need to fill them myself or from the dealer or any other authority?

If I have the compliance letter, do I still need to get TPMS in car?

What are the charges and cost of importing US manufactured car?

If I choose not to import it, how can I keep the car in Washington state for up to a year? How will ICBC insurance work in this case? And will I be able to drive the car for 1 year with canadian license?

I know these topics have been discussed in detail, but I would appreciate if someone clarifies these. Thanks!

I don't think there is any form to update information. I remember trying to update my DS260 with my married name and it wouldn't allow me. I believe the most important thing is to ensure your current address is what you have when you register your interview especially if you plan to pay for the passport to be delivered to your home. You can let them know other information at the interview (if they ask).

Hope this helps.

I emailed their office almost immediately after the interview letters went out (so around 8:30) and they got back to me around 3:00 PM. I have an appointment booked for April 2nd.

Hey you guys, I just checked up on my case status and as you can see it says it was updated today, but it still shows refused. I can't remember what the bottom paragraph said on Friday when I first looked, but I'm really worried this means it's been officially refused now.
