Hi VJ family! I'm back to (finally) share some positive news. After many emails explaining why the Consulate made an incorrect decision on refusing my husband his immigrant visa, they finally fixed their mistake and ISSUED the visa. We just received the tracking number today. It's been such an emotional roller coaster for us these past 3 years and even more so in the past 3 months alone since our interview in December. I'm proud of us for staying strong and fighting our case to the Consulate and never giving up! We're so grateful that the end is now here. @Hawk Riders - time to change our place in the tracker to be highlighted in GREEN (approved). I hated seeing that highlighted in RED these past couple of months.

Thank you all for your support and guidance throughout our journey. WE DID IT! ❤️

YES! I'm so happy to hear this and can't wait to hear about you guys finally being together. SOON!!! ACTUALLY SOON NOT BUREAUCRACY SOON!!!

Lol why not 9/21? 🤷‍♂️ Can only hope

So they're now back to issuing letters mid-month for CRs/IRs? Are they doing that thing where they were alternating more K1s than CRs/IRs again (I thought they did that in the fall, but I could have been misreading information)? I keep hearing news about K1s but not about IRs these days...

No one knows.  Don't get too upset - everyone is trying to get to their loved ones.  Montreal has been an abomination for a LONG time now, so everyone ends up in limbo, waiting.

I think they have been sending the K1's and then doing the CR/IR's IIRC.  Just give it a few days before making any judgements.

We are DQ 9/19 and holding our breath for the IL to come to see if we made the cut or if we need to wait another month. It Seems that from DQ September there are much fewer applicants per month so I'm really hoping it starts moving much faster.

It's really annoying that they only do K-1s in Montreal as it really is a dual-intent nonimmigrant visa, but Montreal treat it as an immigrant visa when it is no way as such. If the other consulates did K-visas as well, Montreal probably wouldn't be such a hot mess.

This isn't a Montreal thing. Ks are treated similarly at the consulates in most other countries.

Did you sign up for Informed Delivery with USPS?  That's how I found out ours were coming.

No I didn't even know that was an option haha. Honestly once I got here my stress on waiting for stuff disappeared. It was in the mail today. No idea where my gc is at. I'll do what I need to if I don't get it in 3 months. Otherwise happy to be here.

Hi fellow VJ friends.

I was discussing things with my husband and we came up with few questions that I haven’t seen being answered in our thread because they are related to immigrating during the pandemic and crossing the border.

1. Is a COVID test required for those who cross to the USA by land with IR1 visa?

2. I am deemed an essential worker in Canada (I am an IT infrastructure specialist) and I am considering the possibility to continue working for my current employer in Canada after I move in with my husband in Michigan at least until I find something more suitable in the USA. I wonder if someone has a similar experience with crossing the border daily or weekly. Will CBP accept a letter from my employer stating that I am essential or do they have their own definition of essential workers?
