That’s crazy! How did you find out that it was a different person? Did the consulate email you?

Yes. The Consulate emailed with an explanation stating the deportation note. My husband has never been deported and is definitely not this person. I’m SO infuriated. We’re lawyering up.

I know you are infuriated and feeling very emotional right now and understandably so, but I am sure this can be straightened out. I would consult with a lawyer at this point to get a clear idea as to what you need to do now. I am assuming you need to submit evidence that he is not that other person who got deported although you would think that with all the information they collect about us they would be able to get it right. They make us go through all these obstacles and it is so frustrating but dont give up :)

Omg! Montreal canceled my appointment as I’m in the adjustment of status process! Probably the only one here to celebrate that! Thank you so much for the wonderful people who helped me! It took them exactly 1 week to cancel my appointment!

I got back to my room and collapsed to my knees and just sobbed for 5 minutes, like I'm a big emotional dude but didn't realize how much tension needed to come out haha.  Messaged my wife with the "Welcome to the United States of America" letter and she called and we talked and laughed and cried for 20 minutes.

Usual process that everyone here mentions: clock's broken, room is super quiet and dull, staff are totally nice.  Passport taken, wait 45+ minutes, documents taken, wait maybe 15 minutes, then interview.  I was asked about how we met which ended up being a rambling tale as it usually is, and about what wife does for work.  Fingerprints taken, handed over most recent pay stub and tax return from my wife, and then she said congratulations there's no problems here and that was it.  I'm having problems believing it was only really two questions but I guess we talked about stuff based on the questions so I probably answered stuff indirectly.

I was able to change my flight just to leaving at 16:00 today so quickest cross-country trip ever.

YAY SO HAPPY EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

HR I love you, I'll update my timeline shortly.  Wife and I figured out yesterday that today is DAY NINE HUNDRED of our process.  900 days since we mailed the original petition.  And it's done, my God it's finally done, I'm going to cry again, thanks VJ, you guys have been great and I'll be sticking around for some time for support and stuff.  Sorry to the one person I randomly got cross at that one time, that's not me normally and I still feel bad for that.  Thank you all for direct support and for your stories and data and everything else.

Im crying!!!! Happy for you, beautiful post! Congrats!

This group has made me cry multiple times so it's only fair I give back at least once haha!

MONTREAL INFO!  Montreal is pretty dead btw currently.  For food I highly recommend LES MAUVAISES GARCONS - their chicken sliders are omg good, taquitos were OK and a bit overpriced.  I just ordered smoked meat sandwich and poutine from Schwartz's and I know Schwartz's is kind of a vanilla choice but it seemed the thing to do.  Sofitel Le Carre Dore (sorry for the no accents) is 2 blocks from the consulate and currently priced OK.  It's listed as a 5 star hotel but ehhhh, the rooms are OK, small, with kind of cheap decor and the carpet pattern legit hurts my eyes haha, and the bathroom is kinda dingy, but it's comfy.  Stores are almost all closed and the curfew is super weird, like last night I get in and I forgot it was 9pm and I ask the desk guy where the nearest dep is (depanneur = convenience store = Montreal tradition) and he said well there's a great one 2 blocks away but you can't go because of curfew.  Oops yeah.  So delivered food was the thing 😛.  I've loved Montreal when I've been here in the past, this time I'm just here for a purpose.  I'll be back.

Sorry, forgot to mention I got approved on Monday as @Hawk Riders mentioned. I did go in at 9:30 am and was out by 10:30 am. I was a petite girl with khaki shirt :) . On another note, while I was waiting, I did wonder how many people were waiting from visa journey :) .

Also anyone have any reasonable suggestion for cross border shipment? So far, I have checked out U-Haul and U-pack and there's challenges with both as I am not in Vancouver and my stuff is still in storage in Vancouver and I am currently in Vancouver Island.... U-Haul is super expensive if I don't drive myself and I don't trust myself driving a U-haul haha...So trying to figure out the logistic....Just wish Canada didn't have the 14 days mandatory quarantine rule, so my hubby could just come and leave the same day.
