For my medical with Dr. Lee they said they will be taking the pictures. I thought pictures for interview and medical have to be updated and the same. If they are not it should be okay right?

I had my medical with Dr. Lee two weeks ago (they took my photo at the medical), and today I had my interview where I presented a different passport photo I had had taken. It did not seem to be an issue - no one said anything about the photo in my medical and the passport photo being different.

This may be a stupid question but hey I figured I’d ask it anyways. I was vaccinated through public school like everyone else in the country (or at least BC), I got my MRR and TDAP done last in grade 9. I have the slips given to me at the time of the vaccinations and I have a health passport my mom kept that the nurses who gave the vaccines filled out declaring the date and type of vaccination. I thought that this would be good enough records of vaccinations and I’d be fine for the medical exam up until today when I was looking through the FAQ and it says you need to have had a booster within the past 10 years. I’m 26 so my last shots were back in 2010. Does anybody know if the vaccinations you received in school growing up are fine or will I need to get them done again? If I do need to get them done again where would be the best place to go, like a family doctor, health clinic or just at the medical (Dr. Cheema)?

I had updated vaccines today as my tetanus was near 10 years old.  I boked an appointmetn with our public health unit here.  I got updated tDAP, flu vaccine, an additional MMR was recommended and received the pneumococcal as well.  I did them before the medical as they are covered by provincial health.  I didnt see a reason to pay more at the medical if I could avoid it.  I would check with your family doctor or public health where you live.  Money is better in your pocket than someone else's.

Hello—

The TDAP must be repeated.  It is a combination of tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis and you must have one every 10 years.

I would go to a clinic or family doctor to get it done  ahead of time and so you don’t have to pay for it.

On another note:

My husband was approved for his visa back on Friday, January 29.  They retained his passport and gave him his welcome letter. His visa never updated to “issued” and as of today is still showing “refused.”

We have sent an email to the consulate inquiring as to the appropriate status.

Does anyone have any idea why it hasn’t updated?  I am going crazy here.

Thanks to all for their help!

So I just contacted Dr Cheema and he said they will administer Tdap and MMR for $45 each. Haven't asked for the flu shot but seems like according to FAQ's it is still required if interview is in March, so will request that too!

I had the flu shot at Doctor Cheema’s office 2 weeks ago and it was $25. You can get it free at Shoppers, or the like - it was convenient for me so I paid;  I was secretly hoping I wouldn’t have to get one, since we’re waiting for the Covid vaccination and there really hasn’t been a ‘typical flu’ season - but alas.....I had the others done at the travel clinic during the early part of the lockdown and it was more expensive then Dr Cheema.  👍🏻

It sounds like your husbands case is undergoing administrative processing. Is he a Canadian citizen?

Just came to the realization that the Applicant's birth certificate is laminated. Would it be a problem at the time of interview?

Is it the old laminated birth certificate from Ontario? If so, it won't be correct. You need the long form birth certificate that has both parents' names on it.

If it's from somewhere else, not sure, but it definitely needs to have both birth parents on it.

This one will not be accepted, it has to be a long form birth certificate. We had to order one online.

Wondering if anyone has been able to drive to the border to activate their visa and then drive back home into Canada to tie up loose ends?

I have movers coming next week to empty my house but I won’t be ready to leave the country immediately - gonna have to stick around for about a week afterward before I make the final trip south.  The movers will have to hold my possessions for additional charges until I send them a copy of my activated visa so they can cross the border with my stuff.

Should I bother driving to the border and back, or just have them hold everything until I’m ready to cross permanently?
