Thanks so much for all your help so far!

Agreed - took them about 3 days to get back to me a few weeks ago when I was confirming receipt of my medical results.

Originals are always ideal, but a certified copy (not to be confused with a notarized one) is acceptable:

”If you are or have been married, you must obtain original marriage certificate/s or certified copies of EVERY marriage.”

Okay sounds great! Thanks for your help. :)

With my wife in Edmonton, there aren't any great options for the medical. The two most feasible options are fly to Vancouver for the appt. with Dr. Cheema, or do the medical in Montreal before the interview.

I know that there can be a delay in the Visa if the medical is not ready in time for the interview. And that time seems to vary significantly from case to case, right? I've seen some say their medical arrived later in the day after the interview, and other say it took a month.

What happens in the case where the medical takes place after the interview? Let's say interview in morning and then medical in Montreal right after (because interview is on Monday, and Montreal Medical is only M-W). Is that even allowed? Or will they not let you take the interview?

Thanks.

Congratulations to everyone who got in for March! My DQ date is September 1 with PD of January 28 so I am hoping I'll be in May. And I have another question which maybe some of you can answer. We were DQ'd with an i-864 in which my husband's income was too low but his asset holdings were adequate. To double insure that things would go well, we uploaded an i-864A with an additional sponsor back in December (so long after the DQ). When I last checked CEAC, the i-864A was still sitting in the file with the status of "SUBMITTED". Does that mean they aren't going to go back to the file and review the document now that we are sitting in DQ, or are they not going to review anything new at all, or will they review the i-864A and advise via CEAC prior to the interview? I have all of the original documents to bring with me to the interview. Thanks!

I’m one of the lucky who received the letter today, interview date March 12. My passport expires 3 months after the interview and I just learned it has to be 6 months. I’ve been holding of since all my green card submissions have to old passport, and since I’m not from Canada I can have it done easily, I’m not sure the local embassy can have my new one done in time.

Has anyone else had experience with this and what did you do?

I can't speak to the medical after, but I was in Calgary.  We thought about Dr. Cheema, but flying to Van, then back, then to Montreal seemed like a lot of headache and a lot of money.  I called Medisys in Montreal and did everything there instead.  You'll have to see if there is availability in flights for you to go back and forth if you do choose Dr. Cheema.

So I crossed the border 8 weeks ago, still haven’t received my ssn card yet. As I had already call in the last couple of weeks, I decided to call again this week. The women I talked to didn’t seem to case at all. Saying that I need to qualify for specific guideline in order to be given an appointment. I decided to tell her, you know what, can I speak to a supervisor. I talked with a supervisor which she was super nice and very helpful. She asked me to come in this morning and then she said that I should finally receive my ssn card within 7-10 days.

I'm about ready to head to a different SSA office because I keep getting the run around, too.  Before, the one lady was trying to tell me that you can't get a SSN with a MRV (untrue).  Now, the local SSA office is apparently closed (guessing they had an in office covid case) and the guy tried to tell me that we'll automatically get the SSN's (we didn't tick the box back in the days before covid because we knew my kids had ITIN's and that might create extra challenges so going into an office made more sense).  I told him no, we won't because we didn't request them.  I'm just kinda over it...LOL!  If I didn't need the SSN's for a better tax write off for my kids, I would wait.  Alas, ITIN only gets me half the write off, apparently.

Ahhh....these covid times...

When you went through Medisys, did you do that before or after your interview?  If before, how long before and did they have it completed before your interview?
