Yeah the lady I talked to yesterday put me on the list and that eventually I would get an appointment but not to except anything in the next 2 weeks. I crossed the border 7 weeks ago. I’m tired of waiting because without it I can’t do anything. Nobody wants to hire me without it even if I’m telling them that I can legally work already.

My husband had his IR1 interview yesterday and was approved!! Here is a review from him:

 

Arrived at 9:20 a.m. for my 9:30 appointment. Had to wait outside until the security guard came and asked me when my appointment was and let me in. The guard at the door asked me for my passport so that he could identify me . He then asked me three questions about any exposure to Covid and if I’ve travelled recently. Then he gave my passport to the next guard and I was then asked to take off my coat and my belt, empty my pockets and put them all in the tray to go through an x-ray machine while I went through a metal detector, and then I collected all my belongings. I was then asked if I had a cell phone which they put into a locker and gave me the key.

 

I then went up to the first floor and proceeded to window number 6 . I was  then asked for my passport for identification purposes and was told to sit down until my name was called. It was about 9:30 but the clock on the wall read 10:40 which was obviously wrong. In about 15 minutes or so I was called to window number 4. I had to let her know that her speaker wasn't on because behind her mask and her quiet voice I couldn't hear anything she was saying. I mentioned to her that I had recently updated my passport.

She asked for:

One passport picture and a copy of my passport biometric page.

My birth certificate (Long version)

My marriage certificate 

My police background check 

My military records.

I then had my fingerprints taken. (*Just a side note if anyone cares.. the fingerprint scanner that you place your hand on is not  sanitized from the previous person using it as I asked them. I wiped it down myself before using it)

I was then told to have a seat and wait to have my name called again .

After another 15 minutes or so I was called to window number 3 for my interview.

Questions asked were:

Where was I born?

Where was my spouse born?

Where did we meet?

Do we have children?

What was my Canadian and US address?

What was the longest I've travelled in the US?

Why I wanted to immigrate to the US? (We are retired so I won't be working)
What financial resources do you have to live on when you move to the US?

 

At this point I was given two sheets of paper, one a Welcome to the United States letter and one with instructions how to pick up or deliver your visa.

Nothing else was said so I asked if this means I am approved and he said yes!

 

My interview was at 9:30 and I was out of there at 10:30!

Question for anyone who used an airport POE - specifically Pearson.. 
 

my original flights to US are now cancelled (thanks again covid, really messing this up every step of the way) 
im rebooking for an earlier flight but it leaves at 6:45 am... I am concerned about timing in the airport... usually TSA security doesnt even open until like 5am, by the time I go through security and get to customs and declare my visa and go through secondary processing.. I'm worried I will have missed my flight.. 

does anyone have a similar experience with this they could share?

Should be ok, wouldn’t imagine there will be too many people going through customs right now. Congrats btw!

Why is your flight cancelled? I thought they only had a ban to mexico and the Caribbean right now...?

Airlines are cancelling a lot of flights now...im guessing to save money since even less people are flying due to the new restrictions.. I'm also flying to Hawaii so it's more difficult to get connecting flights

Ohh okay. Maybe youll have better luck with american airline companies? My husband is currently here with me in California and we're hoping they dont put a ban on the US because he has to come back for the birth of our child in a couple on months...

We had interview on Jan 27th and we didn't upto date Canadian police certificate. Just got our police certificate in mail today. Mailed to consulate and uploaded online.

We also uploaded indian police certificate online prior to interview. After interview, I noticed that police certificate moved from additional documents to Civil documents. Our status changed from Accepted to submitted. Hopefully it won't be issue. Almost done!!

Interview Jan 27th @ 9:30am. Pretty well everything everyone has said is the initial process of being let in, scanned, cell in lockbox etc.

3 separate steps once I was on 2nd floor where the interviews take place.

1 - Asked for passport

2 - Asked to confirm if i864 has changed since uploading and DQ. Had filled in one for 2020 but he didn't want it as taxes weren't filed yet. Marriage certificate, police certificate, long form birth certificate asked for.

3 - Actual interview. Asked to swear oath. Asked how we met, what he does for work, where we will be living. Took under 5 minutes and was given welcome letter. All documents but passport returned to me.

Everyone was very kind and courteous :3

Total time was approx 3 hours.

Medical was with Medisys 2 weeks prior, and received email confirmation within a week that it had been electronically submitted.

Stayed at an airbnb and took the train down from Ottawa as the weather wasn't looking great, thankfully I did that!

If you love fish and chips I had the most amazing dinner from Brit and Chips about 10 mins away from train station.

Received email confirmation on Friday that my passport would be delivered this coming Tuesday. Estimated crossing date for me is end of March. So glad this part of the journey is over!
