Is the Canadian police certificate suppose to be valid until crossing the border or if it’s valid at the interview time is enough?

Does anyone have an idea on this ? My Canadian PCC expires in May. I’m hoping for an interview in late March or April. But I am not sure if I will be able to move to US right away. Does the PCC have to be valid at POE?

Thank you! This might sound dumb, but if I click submit, can I still submit more documents later? I guess I'm concerned that I click submit now, then say they ask me to upload something else after the interview, but because I clicked submit already I can't submit more documents after the interview.

I was able to submit documents later on after already submitting other documents. I uploaded my new police check on the applicant side and submitted it. I then uploaded the new 864 on the petitioner side and submitted it. make sure you submit it and don't leave it uploaded. They wont accept it!

Remember to check the FAQ:

"COVID-19 Documents

My police certificate expires close to my interview, does it need to be valid until I enter the US?
Potentially. A user was told that their visa would expire when their police certificate does (just over 2 months from their interview date), but another received their visa with the expiration date being that of their medical and not their police certificate. It is recommended that you assume that it will expire when your police certificate does (if sooner than your medical)."

Good Morning!

First time posting here. And I must say, this forum/group has been incredibly helpful throughout all of the stress with Covid. ❤️

As our waiting process becomes longer and longer there have been a few things that I was planning on doing after my husband moved to the States, but now it's looking like I might have to do some of it before his interview. Can someone just ease my anxiety-ridden soul and let me know if these things are possible and what we would have to do, or bring to the interview if these changes happened.

1. I would like to change my last name to his. When we got married there was a lot of other things going on, so I didn't get the chance to change it before we started the whole visa process. And the 2 year deadline to change it easily is coming up.

2. I'll be possibly moving in the next 2-3 months. I'm assuming there's a form to fill out for address change?

3. I also might be getting a different job/pay rate. This pay rate will most likely be less than what I'm receiving now, so does anyone know off-hand what is the salary qualifications to sponsor your spouse? I just want to make sure I wouldn't be getting paid too little before accepting any new job.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome.  Please fill out your timeline.  Additionally, please read through the FAQ's (there is a link in @Hawk Riders signature- sorry - on a computer that won't let me link google documents).  Your questions will be better understood and answered when everyone here understands exactly where you are in the process.

Thank you! I filled out some of my timeline, but I'm currently at work, so I will fill out the rest later. We were DQ'ed in September 2020 and we are currently waiting for our interview letter/date to come in the mail. We still to have months until we'll be getting anything, so that's why I was wondering if it's okay to move, change my last name, and possibly get a new job in that time frame of waiting.

Hi

How do they confirm your vaccines?

I haven't taken any for at least 20 years (wasn't required to immigrate to Canada) and my last vaccination record dates way back to the early 80ies lol. Do you know what are the requirements? What are the ways of checking what you're immune to?

Many thanks

I got my history from the my service alberta website and went in and got the vaccines I was missing. If you can't get a copy then you can get your doctor to do a blood titer test to see what you are missing.

Ok so which one is it? I dont understand, I live north of Toronto, Ontario. Where is my appointment going to be? Toronto or Montreal? I could care less if its in NS as long as the consulate is open.

My case is being processed by the Potomac center and then will go to the NVC, BUT where is it going to go next? according to the US Consulates  websites in Canada the only consulate that process spousal immigration visas is Montreal.  Which would be great since is the only one still working at some capacity.

If my husband lives with me here in Canada is the appointment for both of us or just me and where? I have filed CR1 and 1129F spousal. We have a Po box In Buffalo and that’s the  US address On the application.

The FAQ is your best starting point to get your answers: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k927pE5wqzTN5n0lPYZ1JQxgbmnzmNWX5hSteyii0BY/

"I don’t live near Montreal. Can I interview somewhere else in Canada? What about Vancouver?

There is only one consulate in Canada that does the interview and that's Montreal. "

This is true and has been for more than a few years.

Please read the guides on the forum here for the IR1CR1 process, and check out the FAQ for Canada as well.

@Hawk Riders I have been on and off these forums but was just looking at the spread sheet. Looks like our status still says in Nebraska. The timeline has been updated until NOA2, although, I am not sure where to put in our DQ date if you wanted to add ours to the speed sheet properly.

You have not achieved DQ until you have submitted documents to NVC and had them accepted; please review the FAQ & update your timeline if appropriate.

On the timeline DQ = "case completed at NVC."

Ah, that’s what I was missing, I just wasn’t sure where to submit the date. It’s updated properly now.

Thank you so much, and honestly. thank god for this forum! Once I clicked submit, the option was indeed still available to "add more documents". I'm not sure why but I was worried that option would disappear after hitting submit.
