I'm not sure, as I haven't looked it up, if it's the INA mandating in-person interviews or just federal regulation. If it's the former, then you need Congress's involvement, which to be honest isn't going to happen any time soon. If it's the latter, then it's within the gift of the Executive branch to change it. Regulatory changes are a lot easier to achieve than legislative.

It's part of Federal Regulation. But I would never bet on this ever changing anytime soon, there would be immediate controversy about immigrants "not being vetted" and the like.

Today is the day....!?

I keep saying this, but if they are interviewing for K visas in June, they gotta interview for spousal visas too!

i broke yesterday. If this isn’t just a power move on their end, I done know what is going on. I  don’t even care if I’m in it anymore, just end this.

is anyone here based in the US? what if they give 2 weeks notice and you have to quarantine and don't have time to do the medical? is it just tough or are there exemptions?

I am based in the US awaiting IL. My DQ is Dec. 3rd. I plan to go to Canada in advance of receiving the letter so I can quarantine for two weeks and then still have time to do the medical appointment at least a week before the interview. As soon as people in this forum who were DQ'd up to mid Nov get interview letters, I am planning to go wait in Canada. Thanks goodness for this forum! Otherwise, I would have no idea when to expect an IL!

I'm wondering the announcement made on April 30th might caused something at NVC or consulates internally in terms of resource reallocation, procedure chance, scheduling etc. Bureaucratic organizations take long time to adapt to any change, so maybe they are spending late May and early June to deal with them?

Maybe there are more people adopting kids at the age closer to the limit than we think and they are prioritizing them now... oh well, I'm just trying to find some logic....I absolutely hate this uncertainty and randomness.

Fingers crossed for those DQ’ed the rest of Sept. I’m in Oct, so really hoping there’s some movement today...

I’ve been lurking the FB group, found these 2 posts. I don’t know what to think, but it’s not a great feeling. Trying to stay positive 🤞

Québec prime minister is announcing his new re-opening plan today at 5PM. Maybe they're waiting to see and will adjust the amount of interviews for June...

I-94s are relevant to visitor status, not immigrant status. Show DMV your IV to establish your current and ongoing legal presence in the US--or your green card if you've received it yet!

Furthermore, it appears travel history gets evaporated after you immigrate. CAN Hawk Rider also now has no listed travel history...

So for future reference, the original lady trying to process my licence at the DMV was unequipped to handle a issuing a DL to someone who has not yet received their Green Card. Once she handed it off to a more experienced employee I was able to have it processed. Once everything was then completed, the original lady insisted that if I ever need to renew my license and don't yet have my actually green card in hand, I'll need my I-94. Thank you to those who contributed, informing that this is not something green card holders have. I tried to tell her that, but she insisted. But at least now I know, and hopefully this can be helpful to others in the future.

And no, I have not yet received my green card.

Sorry but I think your strategy is risky. Sometimes they speed up and give interview dates for 2-3 months in a single month. You may barely get a couple weeks before interview date. This happened at Mumbai consulate in India earlier this year. Please plan this carefully, you don't want to miss your interview. Good luck!

i'm taking this as they are continuing to send out IL for June, including today and potentially this week :) so i think it's just a matter of time until ours come out!

Found this info on travel.state.gov

police check only required for 16 years and older. So if your daughter is 16 she will need rcmp check…

Thank you for looking into this for me :)

I also found this (same gov website) and I'm so confused:

Her birthday is in September and even with the donkey paste of Montreal she won't be over 6 month threshold in Jan/Feb (aprox time of out interview)

I may be overthinking it but just want to make sure I have all the documents at the interview (mine PC took over a month therefore I'd rather get ready earlier).

Anyone with the experience?

Many thanks

Agreed, it's very hard to predict. Given the snail's pace right now, that would be a miracle! But I am planning to go to Canada from early July and just stay until the IL. But it's difficult because I work in the US and my job only allows for 30 days of remote work outside of state / country. COVID definitely adds additional complications to an already complicated process, especially if you need to travel between the US and Canada.

I am losing hope for CR1/IR1 interview dates for June. They are clearly prioritizing adoption/parents/K1 now since those have been on hold for a while. Worse yet, there is more than a year worth of F category backlog. CR1/IR1 folks can see their timelines pushed a LOT further. We may have to wait a lot longer. Stupid administration would just re-prioritize categories and make us envy each other rather than just increasing their processing volume. Even simple instructions like relaxing "subjective" criteria during pandemic would be helpful. But no, I don't expect them to act like humans.

Sorry folks to break your optimism but prepare for a slowdown, I see it coming. They are coming after us now, because we were the only category that was allowed so far and now they must have their revenge.
