Agree. The thing that would solve everything is to waive the interview or make it remote. They recently changed it for other immigration processes. I hope it will come, if not for us, for the next ones.

Exactly! With everything else moving to remote, this would be a great solution. They have everything uploaded to their system already, we could show them the original documents during the call.

I'm not sure, as I haven't looked it up, if it's the INA mandating in-person interviews or just federal regulation. If it's the former, then you need Congress's involvement, which to be honest isn't going to happen any time soon. If it's the latter, then it's within the gift of the Executive branch to change it. Regulatory changes are a lot easier to achieve than legislative.

My husband has been in Canada more or less continuously since March 2020 and has been working remote. He's on visitor status, so has US Driver's License, employer, mortgage and the like. He's gonna be going back down to the states once I get a date for the interview.

We don't anticipate any issues with domicile. It's more of a problem if the Petitioner has permanent status/long term work or student status in Canada and has Canadian ties afaik.

Hey - just wanted to let you know I was in same boat.  I had my interview in January and it was totally fine.  I brought evidence that my spouse owned his property in the US, and that he was legally entitled to be in Canada.  No issues with domicile!

They would waive interviews for work visas in a heartbeat if it came to that, because the big industries would lobby for it. But no one cares for the family immigration. This would only change if all of us who go through family immigration dont just forget about this once we are in the U.S. but form a group, and donate monthly/yearly so that we become a powerful lobbying group also. I would gladly donate $1000 USD per year for rest of my life if someone was to start this initiative for family immigration.

I was thinking that maybe it’d be helpful to put the stuff from your signature in the first post? If I were new to the forum, I would probably only check the first few pages for TLDR info and not everyone may think to check your signature. My mobile browser also doesn’t show signatures but my desktop browser does so some people may not even see signatures.

I copied the info to my sig so I don’t have to go looking for it 😵💫

Hi everyone.

Do you happen to know if my 16 year old has to have her criminal record for the interview?

Very unhelpful RCMP clerk told me she doesn't believe they have to check the 16 and up, but when I pulled out my phone and show her the requirement she had questions about the fingerprints. She refused to run fingerprint check :( and sent me home with noting.

Would you have that information?

I am moving to US from YVR. Now wondering when I check in the airline counter, I need to mention and show the US visa to them?

If you could fill out your timeline, that’d be great.

if you’re activating your visa at the airport, plan to be there a number of hours before you fly. You will have to head to security and tell them you need to go to secondary to activate your visa. They will pull you aside and send you to talk to the CBP officers.

Anyone wanna buy a house in Canada? :D Mine's going to be for sale shortly...

Market is pretty hot. My landlord in Calgary is a realtor and just sold one for 105% over asking. Guessing it sells quickly and you get to come down here to stormy ole Houston where we’ve reached “dog’s breath weather” season!

I'm considering bringing my snow tires to help me navigate the rain in Texas springtime... Also yes. COVID has made the real estate market in Canada insane, especially Toronto and Vancouver!

😂 if you have properly inflated tires with tread, you’re ahead of probably 60% of the local population!

Also, if you’re smart and turn your headlights on when it’s raining, you’ll be ahead of the game. A good proportion of people drive with their hazards on in heavy rain but fail to turn on their headlights. I just don’t understand it…cruising along in the left lane with hazard lights 🤦‍♀️

Found this info on travel.state.gov

police check only required for 16 years and older. So if your daughter is 16 she will need rcmp check…

I've been scouting around the forums and while it's kinda hard to piece together information, as of yet, I cannot see anyone in any part of the planet has been scheduled for CR/IR interviews in June. I think K-1s are moving though.

Did NVC go on strike?

I'm new to forums, but my god I hope they didnt. I just found this site today, after waiting almost 2 years. LOL
