Judging by their patterns over the past few months, they've typically only scheduled one day for weeks with a holiday but, more often than not, they just skip the whole week. I would assume they're skipping the whole week. Why not. Also I keep hearing 'but in January it was the 18th'- there was 38 days between Dec IL and Jan IL, all with a holiday break. Today is day 38 with no news from the consulate. As of today, it's officially the longest we have had to wait for information since they fully shut down and we had to wait for the reopen. We are anxious and tense because we are not being communicated with. I've called NVC, the consulate, the visa scheduling centre, the embassy in Ottawa- I was only able to talk to one person and she hung up on me if anyone took my call at all.

Also- the email I sent to NVC two weeks ago got 'responded' to yesterday with a canned response that answered none of my questions. I responded but I think it puts me back in the queue so there's literally nothing to do but wait. It's making me sick- I can't eat or sleep...

OMG Right?! It doesn't take much for someone to pop on their Facebook page/Twitter whatever and say "Just to let you know....."
I HATE the lack of communication from them. I am sure my BP is through the roof with all the stress. my migraines have been at their worst the last few weeks. Well actually it's been one continuous migraine with zero relief so far. I get nausea with them which makes it difficult to eat, and keep things down. I've literally been laying in a dark room with ice packs this whole time. This is not healthy for any of us. I keep thinking "Tomorrow we will get out letters" hopefully this time we will ;)

Y'know with at least $1000+ of fees between DoS and DHS per applicant, the least they can do is take 5 minutes to post an update regarding scheduling...but they don't, and I bet it's intentional. This process has a reputation, they. don't. want. people. to. apply.

Some bright spark thinks that making the lawful immigration process so painful will cause people to stay in their own countries...yet go surprised pikachu when they see the levels of irregular immigration to the US. I despair. However, our determination to push through this process and be with the people we love is a testament to our strength. We will get through this despite the adversity. :)

Welp, just tried calling them and just got "all customer service reps are busy, try later" and then got booted. Wouldn't even put me in the queue. 😕

somone told me a trick about it I cant remember now, but something like if you dont hear a ring at the beginning then you are going to get an automated machine which will hang up on you. So if you dont hear a ring hang up immediately, and keep calling again until you hear a ring. Once you hear a short ring at the beginning of the call that means your call will get to a human. I hope I remembered this correctly!

I don't suppose anyone has had their US spouses try contacting their Congress reps? Would that help at all, do you reckon? I hate just sitting on my hands waiting endlessly and I wish there was more I could do...

Congratulations!!! No need to feel guilty, we are all in this mess together and will see it through that way. I really hope we get letters tomorrow otherwise it's going to be a hard task to get our medical done and scramble travel plans to Montreal in less than two weeks time..

I don't know what that is, so I don't think so, but remind me...

It is when the U.S. petitioner lives aborad. I am guessing your spouse lived and worked in the U.S. throughout the process?

Agree.

Let's not complain about the process length, the previous administration did not help. I'm sure the consulate is doing what they can with the resources they have.

Like you I just wished they would communicate more, give an estimated month for IL once we are DQ (with all the waivers in the world), gives a specific date at which IL are given each month, etc... Easy things like that.

Anyway ! Maybe the border is going to reopen at least... The news are pretty positive.

Yes, my husband was born and raised in Houston, Texas and hasn't left home. He's an essential worker so he couldn't leave last year. I managed to get over and see him but haven't seen him in person since December because of the lovely $3000 hotel stay. We're moving into the house he grew up in.

My wife and I started the process in January, but at the time things were moving so we decided we didn’t want to make a big deal if things were moving at a reasonable pace. However, i got the impression they can only influence USCIS and have no influence on NVC or consulates as they fall under the Consular Affairs department. Who, by the way, can also not be reached by any public forum.

So first off, I’m going to complain about the process. I absolutely will. Even very conservative estimates for time frames never would have put me at 10+ months waiting for an interview. The previous administration made things a lot harder, and then COVID happened, and we know these are unprecedented times- but the consulate has continuously shown us that they have the resources to keep us informed and they simply elect not to. In fact they go out of their way to insulate from the public as much as possible so they don’t have to communicate with us. It’s also incredibly cathartic to come and see other people as frustrated by what is happening right now, because no one in my day-to-day life can even begin to relate to this and when they say things like this it just makes me feel crazy. So yeah- let people complain. Some people really need to see their concerns represented in other people so they don’t feel gaslit.

The border opening still likely will not affect most of us as travelling is still dangerous and so expensive because of the hotel quarantine. It would also be a pretty horrible choice on Canada’s part to let Ontarians out of our land lockdown rn so I really don’t think it’ll happen any time soon.

Agree. The thing that would solve everything is to waive the interview or make it remote. They recently changed it for other immigration processes. I hope it will come, if not for us, for the next ones.
