Hey all, I've noticed several people have posted about how, during their interview, they were asked whether they've ever been denied entry at the border.  This makes me nervous because I have been denied 2x - both because I didn't have the right paperwork (1. no student visa for a weekend class in the States and 2. no i797 stating the beginning of the cr-1/ir-1 process when coming to visit my husband).  Both times I returned later with the appropriate documentation and was let in.  I have always been truthful when asked about these 2 denials and never had an issue.

I guess my question is whether anyone else has ever in the past been denied entry and whether this was an issue in getting approved for permanent residence.

Hello All,
My DQ was July 01, 2020, looking to the spreadsheet I am expecting the Interview to be in March or April 2021.
I have 2 question:

1. I got my Indian Police Check on Feb 15 2020 (which will be older than a month during my interview). Do I have to get the new one? (I have not left Canada since I got my Police check)

2. My RCMP fingerprints were done on June 05 2020 (which will be older than 6 months during my interview). Do I have to get the new one?

Ans 1: You do not need India's Police clearance. The website says you only need new police clearance for the country that you are currently living in.

Ans 2: Assuming you will have your interview in March, you won't need new Canada Police Clearance as PCC is valid for 1 year.

1. Guys - can someone please confirm if the below police certificate is the one that is accepted by NVC and Montreal?

image.png.69a7f7f419cbdd421ddf448f5d5b03a9.png

2. If yes to 1, what to I say to the Commisionaires/Frontier 1 people when I go for the fingerprint.police certificate ordering? 'I need a police certificate issued under privacy act - type "other"?' Anything else I need to say to ensure I get the correct one?

3. What are the other types of police certificate that can be applicable? I'd rather get one of each kind just to be sure.

4. Any other tips from people who have recently done it successfully are welcome. If it helps I plan to go to Frontier 1 in Kitchener.

@EJOyamot Since you did this in December, did you get a police certificate that said "Criminal Record Check for Personal Use" instead of "Privacy Act Request" as shown in the screenshot below (taken from the link Hawk Riders shared)?

Yes. I had the “criminal record check for personal use: other(provide details)” version.

I went to Frontier 1 to get the check and brought a picture of the correct form needed as well as the above screenshot to help me explain what I needed. The person doing my fingerprints knew exactly what I needed and I didn’t have to explain much.

the form arrived in about 1.5 weeks and it was the correct version. No issues at the embassy with it at all.

Hi All - my name is Jess (American), my husband (Canadian) is Rob. He’s currently still in Canada. I had my Canadian permanent residency so we were living up there for the last few years (2017-2019) with our five year old son. I honestly don’t remember most of the dates but I took a stab at the time. Even though our priority date was October 2019, we took forever to get our stuff together (due to lots of stuff, Covid related and not). Documentaries qualified December 3, 2020. Not especially optimistic for a fast interview time but I am excited to find a forum for people in similar positions.

You only need a new PCC if you’ve returned to the country, so you’re good.

Canadian pcc has a year validity.

Hey guys. Sounding like a broken record at this point, but we’re still waiting on my husband to be issued his visa. I don’t really understand why it’s taken us this long. The Consulate hasn’t asked him for any additional documents since his interview on Dec 14. They haven’t even touched his case for 30 days now on CEAC. They still have his passport. Should I be worried? I keep thinking it’ll be okay and to just wait this out, but the anxiety has really started to kick in again. I totally want to just give up now.

Just got my interview for Feb 26th at 8:45. DQ June 2nd.

Now i need to fly back to Canada, quarantine and book my medical.

Congratulations, great to see something moving and people getting reunited with their loved ones.

Since I'm quite new to the process can you please explain how are you able to stay in US and only fly for the interview? Are you visiting?

I have my I130 in process, but perspective of being separated for another year or so is heartbreaking to say the least.
