I just got all three shots (Tdap, chicken pox, and MMR) today at a nearby walk-in clinic. They don't accept walk-ins now, but you can call and book an appointment. I don't have an immunization record from my home country, so I just decided to take them all. US immigration requirement seems to require 2 doses for MMR, so I'm planning to get the second in June.

FAQ says if the interview happens before the 2nd dose, you should be ok as long as you are getting the second dose before you cross the border.

You cannot take these immunization shots for 4 weeks from a Covid shot, so probably I'm won't be able to get a Covid shot till July or later.

Oh darn. I just checked my health record and it seems that I only had the one dose of MMR. So I presume I'll need to get the second.

Question is, will US Immigration need me to have a third dose given that it has been so long since I had the 1st? (1993). I don't see anything online on Dr. Cheema's site that two doses of MMR are required?

This is the excerpt from Dr. Cheema's vaccination FAQ which seems to align with CDC requirements. They do note alongside vaccines that do require multiple dosages, but nothing by MMR. Are you guys absolutely positive that a second dose is required? I really don't want to delay my Covid vaccine if I can help it.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I got my Tdap yesterday at a shoppers. They didn't have MMR. Now I am being told since these 2 were not received at the same time,

I have to wait for 2 weeks until I receive my MMR vaccine. This means I need to delay my covid vaccine. Ohh.

Hi @Shumai84 I have a quick question for you. Were you fully vaccinated as a child for MMR? Did you consult a dr or medical professional about

the safety of getting it second time as an adult? Thanks!

Like you I don't have any papers from childhood. My mom says I have been fully vaccinated for measles, but not the other two.

Trying to avoid the blood test for immunity and just want to get the vaccine if possible.

Well that was quick, I guess.  Update.

Entered and activated IR1 visa April 20, 2021. SSN in the mail 8 days later. Green Card in the mail today (24 days)!  Sent my I-130 to Texas initially Sept 2019 and it was transferred to Vermont for processing.

I only had one shot of MMR. I am 62 years old and had no immunization record from earlier.  I got the MMR and TDAP about two months before seeing Dr Cheema and it was all just fine. I am sure I had Chicken Pox as a child and that was all they wanted to know. That was fine and nobody ever questioned me about my vaccinations.

Apparently there's no maximum time to get the second dose of the MMR and is safe to have as an adult. We would be pretty hosed if we couldn't get it lol.

By the way, Covid vaccine-wise. BCCDC says that you can't have any shots either 14 days before the Covid shot, or 14 days after it.

Thanks a lot!

All of a sudden, I need to get all the vaccines in the world and trying to figure out how to space them out in best way is driving me crazy.

Dr. Lee's website indicates 2 doses, and I thought it's in line with FAQ, so I'm assuming I need 2 doses. Better be safe than sorry.

MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) - record of 2 vaccinations, proof of immunity, or recent (within 1 month) booster ( MMR not required if born in 1956 or earlier)

I'm pretty sure I was fully vaccinated when I was a child as Japan had a mandated vaccination program at the time. I mentioned that to the doctor at the clinic but he didn't seem to be concerned at all, so I thought it's ok.

Regardless, I won't be able to meet the US vaccination requirement without shots, so I didn't have many options. I thought about a blood work to prove my immunity, but I was worried about the turnaround time as they will need to send the blood sample to a lab and if I don't have immunity I will have to get shots anyway.

Did any of you receive second dose of MMR for the medical since childhood?

Is it safe if I just go ahead and get MMR at a local pharmacy and avoid having

the titer test?

I received 2 doses as an adult. Once when I was in my early 20s since I didn't know if I had both doses as a child (I had) and then again before my medical because my titers showed I wasn't immune. I've had 4 doses overall and I'm totally fine.

Guys - can you call NVC and talk to a supervisor? They get the slots from the consulates two months in advance and assign interview dates one month in advance. If you talk to a supervisor they will be able to give an indication of what is going on. Can someone call? I have not time this weekend or else I would have called.

No they can’t and they won’t tell you. They’re only doing 1 month at covid and they only do it once the consulate opens the spots and Montreal hasn’t opened the spots yet.

For those of you , who are expecting to be in this batch of IL”s and are expecting interviews in June , is your case still at NVC or sent to consulate for scheduling ?

I thought it stayed at NVC until you get your IL and schedule it?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the medical before the interview so you can get any vaccines you may miss that are required? I was under the assumption that they do it at the appointment if so.
