From what I understand Montreal are still prioritizing spouses, fiances, and minor children (Categories K-1, K-2, IR-1, IR-2, CR-1 and CR-2). Montreal isn't interviewing other categories at the moment unless there are grounds for an emergency appointment. Despite the PP being revoked Montreal hasn't changed their interviewing policy.

Oh really ? That is disheartening ! Where can I see this information ? I read the below on their site and assumed immediate relative meant parents too

We understand your concern about visas and travel in light of the continuing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and appreciate your patience as we safely resume our operations.

The United States Embassy and Consulates in Canada have resumed certain non-emergency U.S. citizen and nonimmigrant visa services. The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is processing immigrant visas and will prioritize Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including intercountry adoptions, fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications, as well as other mission critical categories such as medical professionals.  Each post’s ability to expand service offerings will differ based on facilities, staffing resources, and local conditions, and it is important to monitor each location as they will resume services at different times.  While the Embassy and Consulates aim to process cases as soon as practicable, there are likely to be increased wait times for completing services due to substantial backlogs.  Wait times for appointments will also be lengthy due to the pandemic.

Please review the information below for services available.

A lot of the understanding with how the Consulate operates is from member experiences rather than what is published. Unfortunately that is the nature of this process, it's extremely opaque.

However, I believe this is stemming from what Montreal referred to as 'mission critical' that being spouses, fiances, minor children, and people immigrating in the national interest. I am not aware of anyone who has been interviewed in IV categories outside the ones I mentioned unless it was an emergency appointment.

This would explain why people with very old DQ dates in the IR-5 category have yet to be interviewed while CR-1/IR-1 is up to Sept 5th 2020 DQ.

At the POE, you don't have to have an xray image right? The welcome to America letter says to keep your xray images as a followup thing for healthcare in America? Is it all electronic now? Because we didn't receive any images.

Most of the medical places give you a CD of your xray results. You don't need them at the POE though, it just might be handy when you get set up with a new doctor in the US to include them in your medical records.

Hm, he never got a CD either. we'll just call the doctors and ask them I guess!

A little relieved to see the Montreal consulate is still conducting interviews with the folks who are scheduled this week as I was worried that they might cancel and suspend operation all together after the boarder closure and spiking case count everywhere in Canada. Quebec is keeping the case count fairly contained though.

It still worries me that they haven't booked for balance of May after 19th. Sent an inquiry to NVC if they are continuing to issue ILs for late May and June. I'm really hoping that they release another batch soon. I got DQ'ed on Sep 30th and my police report is expiring on July 14th.

Same boat as you. Mine expires June 6th

sent an email to the consulate last week and got a generic reply about my case being at the nvc and the pandemic blah blah blah. The reply came today and my heart skipped a beat thinking it was a interview letter for a second. Joke was on me

Do you have to cross before the police check expires or just the medical

Oh! I emailed them too but haven’t gotten a reply yet- what did they say about it expiring? Did they say there was an extension or to just pony up and get a new one? I really don’t want to throw that money down /again/ if I don’t have to 😞

@Shumai84 in April for Easter weekend, they straight up just didn’t book anything for almost two weeks (10 days I think). It’s like when a holiday comes up they just write the week off 😞 I know not everyone who applies is in this forum but like- it seems unlikely that /no one/ has heard anything. I’m just trying to accept my letter won’t be next month and they really did only send out 50% what they have been so far. I’m very heart broken- it’s making me sick lol

This was very helpful, thanks! Please let us know how long the transfer takes!

my transfer took about a week. I asked our senator for help. They reached out to the NVC and emailed me within a week letting me know my case was changed from Dublin to Montreal. I got a new case number (DUB to MTL) it was very easy! :)
