Hi Guys,

Quick question for the people who already had the experience to activate their visa at Pearson airport (Mississauga). How much time approximately does the process takes? what kind of questions asked? Any documentation required?

Just trying to plan ahead before my trip.

Thank you!

I'm wondering the same as my flight out from Pearson is this month :)

I was also going to do that bc I also decided to stay in Europe with family during the pandemic but was advised not to request my interview to be moved to the embassy here as I would lose my spot in the que plus it takes time for the file to be transferred to another embassy etc. At least we know Montreal is processing and things are going at a good pace, not sure about the embassy in the UK. However, who knows what the Canadian gov might do next - I wouldnt be surprises if they suspended international travel again for weeks so everything is so unknown at this point. If you are already in Canada, Id just stay there and wait it out.

Hey! I just wanted to say that I was in a similar situation (Irish citizen living in Canada). I had my case transferred from Dublin to Montreal because, well, Ireland is handing this pandemic terribly. I reached out to the NVC and they ASSURED (after me asking ARE YOU SURE ARE YOU SURE ARE YOU SURE for 30 mins) that your DQ is your DQ, and that you WILL NOT lose your place in line, regardless of how many times you change embassy/consulate. Hope this helps!! :)

Thanks for the info! I just checked the Ontario site and it says that the 14 day quarantine is strongly advised (not mandatory/enforced) https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-stop-spread#section-6

I also read that if your primary residence is in Ontario, you will not be stopped from entering. We should keep checking all of this Incase things change in the upcoming weeks though!

Thank you for the info, so we are good to go to the interview during this look down. Montreal curfew is still 8:00?

Yes curfew is still at 8! You actually can't even leave your hotel room actually to even go to the hotel lobby past 8pm.

Are the Montreal consulate interviews for May scheduled yet? When do the interview letters normally go out ? How can I check this ?

You’ll have to fill out your timeline and then ask @Hawk Riders to be added to the spreadsheet. From there you’ll see where you sit on the list of vjers. As of right now interviews have been booked to may 19th ish

Here's the info from the folks in this thread: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LvnDvX95_tfWtTvsJJM49PDPPvPKal0WG2rgdZHhsz0/edit#gid=255923754

As a note based off of your previous question, this thread (and the spreadsheet at the link) is for IR-1 visas for spouses. If you're working on an IR-5 visa the process might be different.

Thank you

now that the Presidential proclamation that had stopped the processing of interviews for parents have restarted , I wonder if there should be any difference in priority in terms of scheduling as both qualify as IR? Anyone have any insight in this ?

From what I understand Montreal are still prioritizing spouses, fiances, and minor children (Categories K-1, K-2, IR-1, IR-2, CR-1 and CR-2). Montreal isn't interviewing other categories at the moment unless there are grounds for an emergency appointment. Despite the PP being revoked Montreal hasn't changed their interviewing policy.
