Shouldn't be a problem, but the best thing to do is to get a copy of your tax return transcript (if you're talking US taxes) or your notice of reassessment (if you're talking Canadian taxes). That will verify that you actually submitted the amended return and it was accepted.

Yeah sadly we still haven't gotten the transcript for it because the IRS is sooo backlogged :( I'll just have to go with the 1040s I guess and pray for the best!

So I had my interview this morning, and my Son’s CRBA appointment yesterday! It was a breeze, the hardest part was trying to keep my 1 year old son entertained while we waited for his appointment.
officers asked me:

when and where we met

when/where we got married

if we have children, when was our son born

my longest stay in the US- mine was from Nov 1-Jan 15 this year.

my husband address, my address,

my husbands job, my profession.

Very straightforward, took 1 hour 15 mins from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Interview itself was 5 mins, and 5 mins while handing in documents.
I was asked for my birth certificate my passport, police certificate, marriage certificate, and my husbands W2s from 2020 as his return just got filed yesterday.

Every one was very nice, I had forgotten my sons sweater and hat at his interview and they had it waiting for me to grab when I came back in the next day.

Overall a great experience. Stayed at the Hotel Europa Best Western. And it was a 3 min walk to the embassy.
They said my Visa will be approved and back to me in 2-3 weeks

US tax transcripts only show the ORIGINAL return, not the amended amount according to the IRS Get Transcript website. I’m in the same boat and plan to bring the return transcript, account statement transcript and the full 1040X

Does anyone know the requirements to cross the land border in to the U.S. via Niagra region in to New York? As best as I can tell, there is no need to get a negative COVID test. Please share any latest information you may have.

Crossing the land border into the US requires no Covid test, however the US State may have its own requirements that may/may not be loosely enforced.

Crossing into Canada by land requires a test conducted in the US no earlier than 72 hours prior to attempted entry, as well as a second test at the crossing and then a third towards the end at the 14 day home quarantine. No hotel quarantine for land crossings unless you fail to comply with land border testing requirements. Tests can be waived if you have a proof of positive Covid diagnosis within the last 90 days. No exemptions for vaccination...yet.

Hi everyone, we are prepping for our interview in May and ran into two potential complications we aren't sure what to do about.

1) We called everywhere around us for passport photos here in Windsor, Ontario, and nobody seems to be allowing them because they "aren't essential." Can we bring our own photos to the interview?

and

2) Our marriage certificate was lost during a move and we think movers may have tossed the stack. We've replaced all other papers but this one is bringing issues. We ordered a new one in the States to be shipped to a family member in Michigan to then remail to Windsor. After waiting over a month, the courthouse reached out and said it was bounced back because it's a government document and the person whose name it is under must be there to accept it. The problem with this is that the family members that would be accepting it all work during mail hours. And I was told I can't cross the border unless I'm actually going home (my car has Texas plates so it would be obvious if I said I was going home and then I'm hitting the system again the same day or the day after when we aren't supposed to be traveling as-is) so I can't just go pick it up myself.

We are at a loss on both of these and what options there are available. We do have copies of the marriage cert, but not the original. And we never rushed the passport photos because reading on the immigration subreddit everyone kept saying they are considered essential and that any Shoppers can do it. All of them here, however, say otherwise.

My husband got his done at a Ted smokes! UPS and Canada post will also do them and post offices are open :) For the marriage certificate, there's not much you can so I guess :( but bring evidence that you ordered a new one and that email that you got saying that you couldn't get it mailed to you. Best of luck!! Let us know how the interview goes!

Passport updates, March interviewees?

@Kaleigh11, @ArgiE0601, @Tristan&Whit, @SJS8581, @Mi and Di, @Citykitty

Receive passport back on 7 Apr 2021, and cross border on 12 Apr, no question asked,  they just asked for passport and welcome latter, and just stamped passport and let us go,

Best luck everyone with their interviews

I’m DQ’d 9/9 so no interview yet but most likely in the next IL batch. I get it, it’s definitely a bureaucratic nightmare that each new form seems daunting but honestly that’s the most truthful information you have that the IRS provides and it’s definitely legal to amend taxes (assuming they’re accepted of course). Bring W2’s and any others proof you have to corroborate and I assume it will be ok. From reading the interview reviews they’re not unreasonable if you provide proper evidence it seems. Good luck!

My husband had his photos taken at a UPS store. They all have them and they should be open as shipping parcels is an essential device

Are they willing to send it to Canada if you cover the additional postage?

That’s normal! They are likely just finishing up some things on their end. It also hasn’t been that long after your interview, so no need to worry. You should see Issued - admin processing note next!

thanks so much!!! I guess its just a waiting game lol

Congratulations on your case being sent to NVC as of last month; border crossing information following your interview is likely to be different than current information. Hang tight and see where things stand in 6mos.

And anyone can directly call CBP at POEs for current protocols.
