Update regarding mid May interviews:

I spoke with my lawyer about why they didn’t fill the month of may yet. And she said that it looks like it’s becoming common practice with most consulates/embassies now that they are scheduling for the next 2-4 weeks only. They would rather wait and see what the situation looks like covid wise than schedule everyone only to have to cancel later. So expect more interview letters later this month or early next month...

Hmm, I guess this does make sense, especially since the number of COVID cases have been higher than ever. Really praying that there will be no cancellations from their end though....

An apology?  You'd better frame that one!  😁

CBP wouldn't touch mine, but USCIS fixed it when they mailed my green card.  So if CBP looks at you like you have 8 heads, don't stress.  It's simply a case of "not my job".

Safe travels!

Anyone else feel that theyve become nicer since Biden took over? It is just a theory, but everyone on here who describes their experience mentions the officers being very nice and friendly which is amazing to see. Plus everybody seems to be getting approved and things seem to be moving much quicker.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find this info in the FAQs. For the medical passport photos, are they US-sized or Canadian-sized or does it matter? Thanks.

I had my medical in Montreal and they did require I believe 5 U.S.-sized passport photos. They also took my photo there as well... Idk why they make you bring them when they take it anyway, but it is what it is!

The review posted by @Deric&Alicia mentioned passport photos are not required for Dr Ian Z. appointment.

“I called the office to double check the time and things I need to bring. Receptionist informed that passport photos are NOT needed. Just passport, interview letter, and immunization records. (I brought passport photos just in case lol”

The shitty thing is that like- they issues IL’s twice in February and nothing for like 5 weeks. They also just didn’t book anything from March 30-April 7 because 4/7 days they were closed so why book anything at all- at least that was my impression... but the last weekend of May is Victoria Weekend so maybe they’re just hanging free for that too you know?

This whole process has broken me into a fine dust at this point and I actively have to stop letting myself have hope.

HI everyone I have a question hopefully someone can shed some light on. I had my interview on the 9th of April and everything went great they kept my passport and i got a welcome letter and was told id get my passport in 2-3 weeks. The thing is that my status is still "ready" for interview and hasn't changed. Is that normal? I was under the impression that after your interview your case goes into administrative processing.

Did they check your car to see if it had TPMS installed? Are we allowed to cross the border without

having the car converted to the US standard?

I haven't crossed yet but I am not taking the car as it's leased. Honestly, don't know much about the requirements but there are good threads explaining importing cars.

I had wondered the same thing, makes sense if that 's their reasoning. I would be even more heartbroken to have an appointment set up only for it to be cancelled due to lockdowns

Got an apology letter from the consulate this morning for issuing the wrong visa class (Cr-1 instead of IR-1). They were able to update my digital vis package so the CBP agents should be able to issue the correct class! Crossing on Friday, fingers crossed.

Wow! Glad you got an apology out of them. That’s RARE. So happy for you that this journey/battle is finally over for you. Best wishes to you!

That’s normal! They are likely just finishing up some things on their end. It also hasn’t been that long after your interview, so no need to worry. You should see Issued - admin processing note next!

I *think* the Consulate follows US holidays.  Not that that matters much because the US holiday is Memorial Day and is May 31, so a day in May is lost, either way.

Does anyone have any experience experience with handing the officers amended tax returns? Are there any issues with that?

Shouldn't be a problem, but the best thing to do is to get a copy of your tax return transcript (if you're talking US taxes) or your notice of reassessment (if you're talking Canadian taxes). That will verify that you actually submitted the amended return and it was accepted.
