Well, Ontario has gone into a lockdown situation (stay-at-home order) starting tomorrow for 28 days.  We have the medical check tomorrow in Vaughan, ON.  I think that is allowed as it is a medical checkup.  But, our Montreal interview is next Wed, and travel is restricted in Ontario to essential only.  Could be tricky justifying that trip to an officer if we get stopped!  Still planning to go, will have to stay at hotel near the consulate as drive time is about 8hrs each way.

My husband is even considering leaving tonight to Montreal and just stay the 12 days that he has to there and not even risk it. I don't trust the Canadian government, they're idiots and will probably deem an interview as non essential. Seriously so stupid to do a stay at home order right now. Like they couldn't just stop at a lock down...

Hii,

For those who got their Visa approved today is it normal to get the paper stating "Completing Immigrant Visa Applications By Mail" eventhough they didnt ask for any other document to be submitted?

Also are we required to pay the visa fee 220$ now or that should be only after receiving passport and before activating the visa at POE?

So here is my experience with my interview today, I was approved and here's the details :)

-was in there for 1.5 hours, maybe 10-15 minutes spent talking to officers

first window --> -asked for passport

second window -> asked for birth certificate, passport photo and marriage certificate at second window

Also New W-2 form from 2020 along with 1040 Form

Plus I informed about update in my wife's address, I had an update AOS form but the officer didn't take it since I had upload it already it to CEAC

3rd window (which looks like the real interview)

-Finger prints taken

-name of petitioner

-who is the joint sponsor

-when and how we met

-when and where we got married

-what was my age when I moved to Canada

-what my wife does for a living and what I plan to do when I move

-where we will be living

-if ever been arrested

-what's the longest time I stayed in the US

-if it was both of our first marriages (yes) and if we had kids (no)

-confirmed I live in Canada right now

- If I read the pamphlet and if I have any questions about it

Current status of Visa is ISSUED - AP

Got my answer regarding the second part (Fees are paid only after receiving the visa)

For the first part I would like some confirmation just for my peace of mind if everyone gets  the "Completing Immigrant Visa Applications By Mail" document handed out.

Has anyone in this group had to file a Consular Report of birth abroad during Covid?
Our son was born in Canada last April, and his CRBA interview was scheduled TODAY to be grouped with my interview in Montreal. (On April 13- my interview is on the 14th).
I’d be rejoicing- except the letter states that they want my husband (US citizen) present, but he lives and works in US. So with less then one week till the interview there’s no possible time for quarantine. Meaning we’d have to reschedule everything. 😭
Wondering if anyone has done this in Covid times, and can confirm that there’s no possible way to have our sons interview without the USC parent there?

We did a CRBA interview at the Vancouver consulate in February for our two daughters - I am the US citizen, but my husband was required to be there with his passport and they did ask to see him with his mask off to compare his identity. As the US citizen parent, I had to sign a lot of paperwork. Not sure if this will help you, but hopefully. Maybe try calling or emailing? I got responses via email.

Can't they sign an affidavit with a notary and you bring that to the CRBA appointment?  I remember reading about that in the CRBA form.

Travel to the consulate is considered essential. Travel to get your medical for your interview is considered essential.

People had interviews during the last Stay At Home Order, in effect in both Ontario and Quebec, and if you check earlier in this thread, many of them carried copies of their letters in case they were pulled over. If you are scheduled for an interview, and you are driving to Montreal, carry a copy of your interview letter with you (which you should have with all your documents anyway). Government services, which includes immigration and visa processing, are essential services. Finally, if you get approved and you need to move, moving is also considered essential.

https://www.ontario.ca/page/enhancing-public-health-and-workplace-safety-measures-provincewide-shutdown a list of businesses that are open, which therefore require essential travel (but this is within the province)

https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/what-is-considered-essential-activity-under-ontario-s-stay-at-home-order-1.5378395 activities considered essential but this is not the fulsome list.

Does anyone know how about flying in Montreal? Do they stop you enter the city?

Hello! I’m DQ in November 18, 2020. Any chance I could be included in the next interview letter? If not, when will I get a possible interview letger? Thank you for the replies!

I wouldn't want to say anything is impossible but by the current trends that they have been interviewing that you should get a letter in June or July so long as the Consulate doesn't pull any silly buggers. I'm DQ Sept 23rd so it's a flip of a coin whether I get one this month. xD

Please see @Hawk Riders's sheet, it's been very helpful. Link
