Has anyone on here had experience sending documents (passport etc) back to the consulate to complete processing? If so, how long did it take?

Please don't make me scour through hundreds of pages to find this answer, I've been on here over 3 years now, I just need this to be easy for once. Thanks y'all/

It's been more than a year since your interview and passport return/denial. Glad you (and the consulate) are ready for the next step!

Most people have been sending in medical results that were delayed, and sometimes background checks. The turnaround time for them hasn't been incredibly long, maybe a couple weeks IIRC.

Hello everyone!

I had my interview this morning at Mar 22nd at 10:00am. The security let me in at exactly 10:00am, I was waiting outside 30min earlier just to make sure I'll be on time.

The security asked me some COVID-19 related questions then they scanned my stuff and have my phone and smart watch kept in a locker box. I was then directed to go up at the first floor to window 6.

A staff took my passport and provided me with a number and told me to have a seat and wait for my number to be called on the monitor.  After a few minutes, I was called at another window and asked for original documents: birth certificate, marriage certificate, police clearance/s, and a passport photo. I was asked if I have the 2020 tax return, I told her my husband has not filed it yet and she said it's okay. She gave me the pamphlet and told me to go back to my seat.

I waited again for a few minutes and was called to a window for the interview. The lady was very nice to me, here are a few questions that I was asked:

If I read and understood the pamphlet regarding domestic violence.

When did you meet your husband?

Where does my husband live?

What does he do?

Countries I've visited in the last 5 years

My longest stay in the states

After that, she told me everything looks good and that my visa is approved. She told me they will be able to print it this week and possibly receive it by next week. I was there for about 1.5 hours. I feel so relieved! ☺️ Thank you all so much for posting your experiences in here. This group has really helped me with all my questions and made this lengthy process easier! Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions. ☺️

Congratulations! Just wondering if you ever changed the address on your police certificate and I-864? Thank you!

Hi! Does anyone have an idea on how long until the GC is mailed once the status changes to "Card is being Produced"? I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in our FAQ, so figured I'd pose the question here! Thank you!

Update: just checked my status and it said it was mailed! All set!

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone went through this marriage based immigration process through a lawyer? if so, did your lawyer have to provide something called G28 form? please let me know because I see it mentioned on page 7 of i-864 AOS form (the section asking if an attorney helped preparing the form) but my lawyer seems not to have an idea about it.

Note: I wasn't asked for it at NVC level but I am scared I will be asked at the interview if required.

Thank you!

Hi!

Very bizarre your lawyer didn’t know about this! It is the authorization form to allow them to access your file. I actually had an issue with this at the USCIS stage because my attorney neglected to send two copies.  They fixed that issue before my case was touched so I wasn’t issued an RFE. Nothing was uploaded to NVC, and I didn’t bring anything to the interview, but they did confirm who my attorney was.

Actually I spoke to the lawyer today and he told me that this was provided to USCIS from the beginning at the petition stage and they have it on file so there is no need for it at this stage. I believe if it wasnt provided already the application wouldn't pass at USCIS from the beginning.

Sorry, not sure I’m understanding your question then?

For me:

- USCIS: it was identified immediately with NOA1 because my attorney only sent one copy, instead of the required 2.... but this was fixed before my NOA2.
- NVC: nothing further required or uploaded

- Interview: nothing was required other than for me to verbally confirm the name of my attorney.

I have my R1 interview this week in Montreal. I had a question regarding the two photos that are required. Do I bring the photos that I uploaded on the CEAC site or do I need to have two new photos taken?  The photos that were used on the CEAC site are now over 6 months old. Requirements are that the photograph must have been taken within 6 months of the visa application interview. I just want make sure that I bring the right pictues to my interview.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thank you very much.  Very helpful.  I do have a Life Labs Acct and made an appointment with them.  Do you have a name or contact for the X-Ray place ?  Is it also Life Labs ?

I think its called VPM Imaging. Google has their contact number as  +1 416-759-3462. I'll suggest you call them while waiting at Dr. Lee's.

I DQ'd May 22, so I am also literally next in line.

I wrote an email to the Montreal Consulate to see if I could get any more clarity, rather than expecting a response on social media. I haven't heard back yet.  In my email I also added the fact that the consulate should maybe consider that many applicants may currently be in the US with their spouse/family, and that it is critical for them to communicate when applicants can expect their interviews as there are some barriers in coming back to Canada to consider.

Prior to Interview applicants must:

- Quarantine for 14-days

- Schedule Medical Exam after 14-day Quarantine  (5-10 business days to send results to embassy)

All in all, a months notice is tight for those that will be travelling back from the US.

For me, I came back in the beginning of January in hope that I could do the above and get everything done with some time to spare. Had I known it would be longer, I would of stayed back with my spouse for an extra week or so. So like everyone else, I hope that Interview Letters are sent out next week.

Same here it’s too much getting depressed hard to come back and forth to Canada along with restrictions

According to the spreadsheet, I am next in line for interviews - May. I am having the worst anxiety because I am currently in Europe (long story) as my spouse and I decided it would be better for me to stay with family until the interview during covid times. I am unsure if international flights will even properly resume by then and how I will possibly squeeze the flights, the 14 day quarantine and the medical in a month or even less because I noticed some people get 3 weeks notice to get everything in order. Also, I am worried about the consequences of potentially having to reschedule the interview as only one member shared her experience with that. Anyone else in a similar situation? I doubt it but I thought Id ask. 😟
