Hey everyone,

So here’s the dilemma I’m having. My interview is April 21st and my second wedding anniversary is June 2nd. If everything goes smooth at my interview and I get approved I should get my passport back around end of April early May. I really don’t want to spend an extra 4-5 weeks separated from my wife but at the same time I’ve heard that removal of conditions is a huge headache with the 2 year greencard where if I wait 4-5 weeks I’ll get a 10 year greencard. Anybody who has any info on the difficulty or stress of filing for ROC on a 2 year greencard, or anybody who has any opinion on whether I should cross or wait it out please feel free to let me know what you’d do in my situation!

You can upload your new documents directly to CEAC and hit "Submit Documents". Many folks on here, including myself, have done this pre-interview. Montreal has access to CEAC and can see your documents/files directly on there. They actually like when people are prepared and submit documents directly in the CEAC portal for them to review. Even if you do upload it to CEAC, I would still bring it to your interview.

Hi - I did that a while back (December 2020) and it still says "Submitted". Because I was already DQ'd when I submitted the documents, does that mean that NVC won't look at revised I-864 or other AOS documents until the case is transferred for the interview, and just the Montreal officers will look? Our financial situation changed since I was DQ'd. My interview has not yet been scheduled. Thanks.

Update: My case updated to READY on CEAC today!! Yayayayy!! Thank you so much everyone for your encouragement and support. We seriously could not have gotten through this without the support and information in this group.

Question: the message underneath the status updates says my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview in Montreal. I seem to remember someone else posting about this, and I'm assuming this is just a temporary message, as I've already had my interview. This is normal right? I'll just be waiting for it to change to ISSUED.

Due to delayed medical, my status went from :

Refused >  Issued "AP" > Issued "Final Processing".  I only saw "Ready" before my interview.

Hi Everyone!

I have my interview scheduled for March 24. However I do have a few questions. Not sure if anyone has been in this situation before but I'm with my daughter who's a toddler and she's not immigrating as she is a US citizen. Would I be able to take her with me to the interview or would I have to look for a babysitter and if yes, any ideas of someone that can keep an eye on her for 3-4 hours while I'm gone.

Also, I'm going back and forth on whether to take photos from the wedding, vacations etc to the  interview. Just want to know if it's highly needed as I do intend not to bother.
Thanks!

Oh, that’s slightly concerning. I did think it was weird that it’s telling me to book an interview.

Please fill out your timeline and see the instructions listed in Hawk Rider's profiles.  There is a link to the FAQ's as well which will answer your questions.

$680 to remove conditions and a glimmer of hope that the border might actually be open if you wait.  Honestly, I get it, but I'd probably wait the extra month and head across on June 3.  We waited until the day after our 2nd and I'm happy we did.

Hi there - can you please fill out your timeline and reference the FAQ's.  That will answer part of your questions.

I believe you'll need a babysitter because they don't allow anyone outside of the interviewee into the interview.  Believe me, you'll want one anyway.  There was a family interviewing when I was there with a VERY busy toddler and mum was pregnant with a second.  Mum looked at dad at one point and said "this better not take 3 hours because stickers and small snacks are NOT going to keep her busy!"

Thanks for those who have replied re: Toronto Panel Physicians.  I have an appointment with Dr. Lee.  I'll post experience afterwards.

I had my medical with Dr. Lee as well. I spent a total of 3hrs between Dr. Lee's office, lab and x-ray. It was such a waste of time! And I would have been able to cut that time significantly if I knew some things before hand.

Quick tips:

1. The lab downstairs is Life labs. Book an appointment on their site (perhaps you can choose an hour after Dr. Lee's appointment or something like that). They attend to people with appointment before walk-ins (even if your appointment time is still about 30mins away). Though you're from Dr. Lee, you are still considered a walk-in (My experience). They had lots of people the day I went so I eventually had to go on their website to book an appointment while I went to the basement for x-ray.

2. You can also call the x-ray folks ahead to book an appointment since they also attend to people with appointment first (I had to wait for about 30mins for my turn)

If I knew these before my appointment, I think I would have been able to cut the entire visit by at least half.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi. I wouldn't worry much about this. I believe the documents submitted will continue to show status as "submitted". Most of the time, they will be able to see it at the interview. However, make sure you take printed copies along with you to the interview. They will ask for it if need be.

Nope. Don't worry about it. READY is just an internal note they have (the words in the box are irrelevant). My husband's status went from Refused --> Ready --> Issued (AP) --> Issued (Final)

Oh! Lucky you! I wish this was a problem I had! 😄.As much as I really wanted to be with my spouse, I was silently praying for our interview to be close to the 2year mark so that I'm able to wait to cross after! Well... turns out we got interview months before then🙄. Since you asked for opinions, mine is that if there isn't any huge pressure for you to cross now (e.g. pregnancy, job etc.) I'll suggest you  wait till the 2year mark. You can sacrifice a month for 10years - that's like x1000 gain! lol! Personally I don't look forward to the removal of conditions stress and costs and would avoid it if I could

Okay, lol, this process couldn’t be more confusing IMO.

I might be one of the only people hoping that the border stays closed until after I move.  The last thing I want to have to do after finally getting my visa and suffering through a year+ border closure, is wait in a 4 hour border lineup of Canadians trying to get to target while I’m trying to immigrate lol.

How long did it take for your husband’s case to go from Ready to Issued because, my husband’s interview was on February 17th it went for additional processing. His case is showing Ready since March 15. Do you know how long it takes to go to Issued?

I don't think there will be that many Canadians worried about the States because the ones that wanted to go have gone.  Now, there are a lot of Canadians in the States that want to go home to visit.  I don't know if there will be some vaccine requirement too, to avoid quarantine measures since the US is trucking along a little faster than Canada.

Even though the interview seems like it's the end, there is still annoying administrative tasks that you have to do on "the other side".  Time will be spent on replacing driver's licenses and other ####### things.  Think of it this way - if you want to ROC, you file 90 days before your 2 years is up....or, you can save that time and wait until 90 days before 3 years is up and just file for naturalization, spend $725 and really be finished (actually - I lie.  Then you'd have to pay for your US passport...then finally done!).  4-5 weeks is worth it.  There really is something satisfying about seeing IR-1 on that greencard!
