* I didn't receive my SSN within 3 weeks from POE so I contacted the local Security Social office to schedule an appointment.

The in-person appointment was scheduled on Mar-22. I had to complete the form SS5 to apply for SSN. The SSN is sent to your address within 10 days. 

 

This is the end of my journey and I wanted to thank everyone involved on these forums who provided valuable and useful info as well as unconditional support. I'm very grateful and wish nothing but the very best to each and every one of you!

 

 

Congrats! Where do you live or which Service Center did you get your green card from? It seems like some west coast folks have received their green card really fast... so wondering if it has to do with their service center or chance.

Consulate email question for those that have emailed the consulate and have gotten a response: how long did it take for them to respond? I emailed on Friday March 26th  asking why my visa is still showing as Ready on CEAC and I haven't had any communication besides an automated response. I'm so happy for everyone for whom things are moving fast, but I can't help but be extremely frustrated that mine has been Ready for two weeks as of today and nothing is happening. They haven't looked at it since the 23rd and I feel like I'm about to lose my mind. Yes I know other people have had much longer wait times, I just don't know what to do or how to cope and need to vent a little bit. 

 

Would it be bad to email the consulate again? I just don't don't understand why nothing's happening.

I moved from Vancouver, BC to Los Angeles. The service center was Nebraska.

Yes husband was approved!! Will update timeline. Here’s a recap,

-was in there for 2.5 hours, maybe 15 minutes spent talking to officers

-asked for passport at first window 

-asked for birth certificate, passport photo and marriage certificate at second window

 

questions he was asked (mostly at the third and final window)

-police certificate handed over and stated oath 

-name of petitioner

-when and how we met

-when and where we got married and who was at wedding

-what he does for a living and what he plans on doing when he moves

-where he will be living and who he will be living with (family temporarily) and how long we plan on staying with them

-what i the petitioner does and what I plan on doing 

-if AOS is the same or has changed (same)

-if he’s ever been arrested (no)

-if it was both of our first marriages (yes) and if we had kids (no)

-confirmed I live in Canada right now 

About five days before his interview we submitted more evidence of my intent to reestablish domicile to CEAC since I’m a Canadian PR and have been living in CA since 2016. We thought copies would be requested at his interview or a need to present them and that never happened. 
 

good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews and hold steady for those waiting! Stressful experience no doubt. We made a trip out of our visit to Montreal and celebrated after with poutine and pastries. If anyone’s visiting Montreal with their spouse i would recommend visiting the museum of fine arts while waiting for them to complete the interview. it’s a ten minute walk from the consulate and only $12 (must prebook online) for something indoors during covid and rainy weather

Finally my visa got approved on 29 Mar 2021, the whole process is smooth

 

-reached to office before 15 min, they have parking behind office building, cost is 15$ CAD cash only, Please try to be on time before interview like at least hour before 

-have initial screening for what you should allow bring inside for interview(generally they allow docs with files, stroller is allowed if you have kid and regular toys is fine,  mobiles and pen drives not allowed), officers friendly nothing to worry about, even I am bit nervous that day

•  generally they allow docs with files,
• stroller is allowed if you have kid and regular toys is fine, 
• mobiles and pen drives are not allowed
• Handbags, Purses & Wallets is allowed but need to remove harmful stuff inside if have any
• they have small lockers to keep small stuff like mobile or pen drives 

-then they take you to upper floor for next process

-first they took all your required original docs by support staff, and they also ask for you want to submit any addition docs(like latest tax docs), then you need to wait for interview call with officer

-then I have call for interview, officer is nice and friendly, they ask normal questions related to your file, they give you time to explain the situation if anything difficult(Please don't try to fool them, try to be honest, they will not focus on small things, they will also keep taking notes during interview), hope this help

-then officer approved our visa based on all information (if they received all required docs and satisfied with your answers then they will generally approved your visa right away.)

-they keep our passports for visa stamps, hoping to get that as soon as possible

-hope this info is helpful to everyone who have their interview coming

 

note: currently curfew satiation going on from 9:30 pm to 5:00 am, so its hard to find washroom in night in and near Montreal downtown, so book hotels is good idea, and if not then also visit some hotels as they allowed to use common restroom in their hotels

I am crossing POE at the end of April. I already paid US visa fee through the website they gave me and had a receipt email from them. 

I read a couple of threads saying you actually get to know when SSN or Green card produced. 

Which website gives you that information? Only website I have an account is CEAC. It hasn't changed at all since all documents are approved. 

I believe I used USCIS website only to check my application status. I do not have an account. Do I need to sign up for USCIS account? 

Any input will help. Thanks!

You can't track your SSN (all you can do is call the SSA if you haven't received it 2-3 weeks after POE), but you can track your green card using the same USCIS page you used to track your application status. No need for an account, you just use the number you got when you paid your visa fee, which should start with IOE.

Their website says 48h, but it might be just for them to be safe.

...packet 3 is essentially K-1 terminology. For IR/CR-1, packet 4 is considered the IL.
