If you mean to the embassy, they won't answer any questions via email or phone. They've said we need to apply and then they will decide.

Hope you went for it! Check out my reply to  your question on my thread. It's true that you need to first inquire with your embassy whether you can be granted a direct in the first place. Just make sure it's an airtight email that lists everything crystal clear why you and your spouse are eligible. We had to follow up with the embassy in Paris, which was a pain, but they did eventually reply.
