  Also the fact that Trump created the false narrative about a stolen election and propagated it for 2 months and created the reason behind the entire protest. We keep hearing that the crowd came prepared for violence before Trump's speech. They did because they were angry about another alternate reality event constructed by the president. Creating the entire scenario that people are rioting about is part of inciting a riot.

 

   Nancy Pelosi didn't make up a scenario where a police officer killed George Floyd. Failing to condemn riots is not equivalent to inciting them. People are not thinking these things through.

Challenging election results, vocally and in courts, and maintaining one's viewpoint that the election was rigged, whether one agrees with it or not, is not any remotely reasonable argument of incitement. Otherwise any violence that occurred in protests following objections in 2001 (which included violently pelting Bush's motorcade), 2005, and 2017, are similarly insurrection and incitement, even though we know neither are. The same ridiculous claim of this is further expanded to members of Congress who objected to the certification, suggesting they should be expelled from Congress, charged with crimes, etc. for doing something perfectly legal (and rational given their constituents' demands) and in no way tied to the riot. Every subsequent anti-Trump tantrum has gotten progressively worse in its logic, and it was clear long ago that the actions to try and remove Trump simply have followed the premise from his election from those unable to come to terms with their loss. It would be nice, after they just won their election, if they'd finally just come to terms with it and move on.

  Not when that viewpoint is unfounded. For example having 39 lawsuits thrown out for complete absence of evidence and continuing with the charade until it ultimately leads to 5 peoples death. There will be consequences for that. The impeachment won't be successful, but that is really the beginning of Trump's legal issues, not the end.

That is why I wonder why Trump would even put up a defense if the Senate trial started after Biden's inauguration.  Seems like a waste of time and certainly money on lawyers and I don't think there is anything to compel a non-sitting President to actually go through it.
