Even Biden does not believe Trump will be convicted.

I think the odds of Trump being convicted are pretty low too. I don't know anyone who thinks it's even close to a slam dunk. I think the only way we'll see a conviction is if the Republicans finally understand that he's got to go once and for all.

Completely agree, but just because the odds are long doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. I mean, there are plenty of people who get put on trial, or who sue someone, where there doesn't seem to be a huge chance for success but there's enough there to keep the case going. Do you throw up your hands ahead of time and say, I'm out even though I know I have rights to enforce, or there's evidence against you, or do you press on?

Lets have a political motivated trial, becuse the first farce and the Russian collusion farce was not enough, becuse we are trying to unite the country.

Does raise the question of what credibility the Dems will have left if he is acquitted.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It does worry me that you'll think less of the Democrats after this impeachment trial. ;)

They scraped the bottom a long time ago.

Okay, imagine you can put the rhetoric to one side for a moment. Do you agree with the point I presented: just because it's a long shot, but there is an argument to be made, does that mean it should not be pursued?

Sometimes the right thing to do isn't the most politically expedient. The point here is an important one: is what Trump did incitement? If it was, and it goes unpunished, that's a loss for the nation. It if wasn't, and he is not found guilty or liable or whatever it is after an impeachment trial, that's a win for the nation. But the issue needs to be settled.

You're still talking about Trump?  Trump is irrelevant.

Did they find the GOP when they got there, or do they need to keep digging?

4 years later and we are still talking about Killary. He is very relevant because he could be doing something which could break the Republican party in half. All the while she is trying to convince Pelosi into doing a 9/11 style commission.

I know. I'm giving NB a hard time because he was posting that the other day every time someone mentioned Trump.

And this is why (imho) the Dems aren't worried about it. Nothing they do will sway people like you, and their supporters are demanding it. You're not the people they need to win over.

I am still waiting to hear what John Roberts will be doing, but if I were him, I would not even entertain presiding over this farce.

You were right, I was surprised to learn today that Roberts wont be presiding, He must see the trial for what it is, a Political hit job of a private citizen and he wants no part of it, especially if the constitutionality of it goes before the Court.

As for his replacement? that honor goes to one of Trumps most vocal critics after the Capital Riot;  Partisan Patrick"" Leahy,  who promised to ""Administer impartial Justice""      The same kind of Justice Democrats are giving Trump to prepare his defense,  2 weeks is it?  What's next? Democrats sending dog signals to Antifa to threaten the Families of Trump's attorneys? This whole thing is looking like something out of a movie.

Of course there will always be the "True Believers" that will take Pelosi's word as gospel, and believe everything that comes out of Adam Schiff's mouth.

So if Leahy presides does he still get to vote?  If the Congress truly believes Trump is a seditionists, they now need to create a criminal referral.  Impeachment (and trial) is a political tool used for removing someone from office who is actually in office.  It was never meant to be used for hatred filled vengeance.  Since Trump is no longer in office, what will the Senators actually be voting on?

They can always impeach Andrew Johnson again.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
