I just submitted ASO and civil documents to NVC and waiting for NVC to review my documents.  I am f3 visa category.

My question is once I get documentary qualified for the VISA Interview do i need to wait for priority date to become available to get an interview date?

just trying to understand if I still have to worry about priority date or its over for me.

Priority dates can go backwards as well as forward and they do line up applicants in advance.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank You Boiler for quick response. I did not understand your reply 100% so it going to impact the interview date.

I thought i no longer need to wait for priority date since I already submitted documents and waiting NVC to schedule an interview.

does it mean even though I paid fees/submitted aso/civil documents I still have to wait for priority date to be current to get an interview? my priority date is 21 Apr 2009

Priority date is currently in the best case July 08 so you have some way to go.

Yes, you have to wait for your Priority Date to be current to have an interview.  The US Embassy/Consulate can only interview F3 beneficiaries with current Priority Dates.

What's your Priority Date?  With the ban, there is a backlog of applicants.  There has been no interviews for F3 applicants since March 2020 and the ban does not expire until March 31, 2021.  It could be the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022 before you get an interview date.
