Opinion journalists are not news. They opine on the news.

What is and isn't the "news" or "opinions" isn't the debate here, at all... :rofl:

But thank you, I understand your disconnect now. Please maybe read/listen/watch some actual news and stay away from opinion programs.

Also, moving goalposts means changing the argument, not responding to an argument.

Indeed. Stop doing that then.

It's unfortunate you're not interested in actual dialog. All good though, as I've said several times I'm not here to change your mind.

In the dialog I've given, you've cherrypicked tiny fragments of it, ignored the rest, and deviated the discussion into something else you believe you have an advantage on (MSM->dossier->pee tape->MSM->what is "news" and so on), only to go nowhere with that too. Although somewhat amusing, the interest in engaging this "dialog" as you call it wears off eventually. That is where I'll leave it.

it's a completely different narrative when the President of the United States says it. Words matter when they are spoken by the person holding the highest office in the land.

I'm OK with Trump saying it because somebody has to, Left wing activism in the media is a big problem and it needs to be addressed.. As for connecting the ""Enemy of the People"" comment Trump made 4 years ago to the recent Capital riot,  pure speculation on your part.

But you are right, words DO matter when it's spoken by the person holding the highest office in the land,  and even when their running for the highest office in the land,  how a Candidate for President spews rhetoric,  stopping construction of the border wall and promising Mass Amnesty to  11 Million illegal immigrants,  which has in fact led to this;

And as President, Traitor Joe decided now is the right time to fulfill his campaign promise, issuing a 100 day moratorium on deportations,  fueling the Caravan even more.

For four years, those who didn't vote for Hillary have been called  racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, murders – you name it.  75 million voters are not going to forget the abuse so easily.

The incident that this woman describes is the type of thing that really gets to me.  Cancel culture at it's worst.  This cancel culture attitude on the left, in many forms, can't coexist with a message of unity.  If Biden truly wants to work towards unity, he needs to address this.

I would argue that the US was not built on a fallacy. All men being created equal is not a fallacy on its face. But it relied on the premise that everyone actually believe that statement of fact. It is Baldwin that once said, "Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be." Writing a declaration that freedom is a sacred truth and undeniable is well and fine. It's declaration is important, but the words only have meaning if the people make it so. And it required our people to make it so, often with blood and pain and sacrifice. It evolves because we evolve, or our understanding of it evolves that is to say - we must fight for the ability to take that freedom and be as a free as we want to be.

Evolution as a concept didn't exist back then. But most of them were deists anyway, so I suspect evolution wouldn't have been very controversial to them.

Many, owned slaves. But not all. And there were plenty of MoR's in the bunch, some quite radical and serious about the men being equal thing. It is hard to wrangle that Jefferson, a man who owned slaves, raped slaves, and profited from slaves - could write such famous words about liberty. Furthermore how we know that he wanted to take those words further and write the declaration in a way that would have acknowledged the rights and freedoms of a slave, but was overruled. He knew it was a morally reprehensible problem, a question he grappled with, and understood that he too was a hypocrite on the subject. There is nothing available to us in present day, that can truly help us understand the actions of the founders in this context. We cannot justify it, we can only reveal it for what it is. And that requires a great deal of honesty from all sides if people have the courage.

Agree......which started in 1870.....but some people refuse to acknowledge any progress....as stated by the member to whom I was replying.
