“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

When they go so over the top, it ruins any chance they have of being taken seriously when discussing the speech and inauguration .

When discussing Biden's speech, I think it was an incredibly important speech, probably one of the more important inaugural speeches.  It was a really good speech and I felt he said all of the right things.  He talked about unity, tried to make peace with those who didn't vote for him and managed, in my opinion, to not alienate his own voters.

Now we have to wait and see if the reality mirrors the speech.  And even if he tries to unite the country, will congress agree and follow along?

For four years, those who didn't vote for Hillary have been called  racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, murders – you name it.  75 million voters are not going to forget the abuse so easily.

Not saying they should, I'm just commenting on what was in the speech.

However, our country needs to bridge this divide we have.  We have to stop acting like anybody with a different opinion is evil and should never be heard.  I agree that most of it has come from one side but, if we're ever going to improve, we have to start somewhere.  Now we see what happens.

Agree with you 100%. It did mostly come from one side, but Trump was very guilty of bombastic rhetoric  also

I don't know why. It's not like there isn't evidence of it right here in the last couple of pages.

Trump did nothing to bring the country together and did nothing but taunt and abuse people who didn't support him. He was an obnoxious abusive jerk from the start and in almost everything he did since. Before we saw how poor of a loser Trump is, we saw how poor of a winner he was too.

I'm glad Biden want's to bring the country together and I hope he has some ability to act that way and follow through with that. Anyone who doesn't want that, anyone who wants us to remain antagonistic and divisive as we have become, I think it's on them. Really, many liberals feel just like you do too. They don't want to get over 4 years of how president jerk treated them. They are going to continue lashing out at Trump. The victim mentality is really strong in this country. A lot of people on both sides don't want to get over it. I guess in 4 years, they will be 4 years older and try again. Sad really. Myself, I think there was a lesson in all that and I'm glad that a lot of people did actually get the message.

Everybody agrees with that. They just don't agree on the side it came from. History books are filled with events and people who thought that way. It's always the other side who is wrong. It is for everyone. It's what leads us to where we are now, but if people don't find a way to move past that mentality it's also what keeps us here.
