Backlogged numbers awaiting interview published

The State Dept has published numbers for this. Some if it is Covid, most is probably the ban - so most of the IR category here is probably IR5. The backlog for family based visas (F1, F2, F3, F4) is much worse. Source is immigration attorney Charles Kuck on Twitter (@ckuck). (He is one of the team that is in the cases fighting against the ban from the EO.) You can see vs prior years. I don’t know how to work this into an estimate of wait time, other than depending on your category somewhere between 3 to 20 times normal if not even worse than that. The other interesting thing to note is that even before Covid/the ban the backlogs had been steadily building up over this administration.

just asking for any news or an opinion

If the fees were increased as previous scheduled  and we finally got past covid , would USCIS be able to resume to any kind of normalcy?

I know they suspended several subcontractors and thinking the increased fees might help to return things like the date entry and phone problems that they seem to be experiencing

So what do we know about the fee increase?

These are the cases at NVC, part of DoS, USCIS is a separate agency. There is no indication that uscis has slowed down processing of visa petitions (they do seem to have backlogs in things like EADs, i539s etc). The backlog here is due to embassies not interviewing. I don’t think the uscis fees have anything to do with this.
