Is having employment lined up in the US relevant information?

Hello 👋 

 

I am doing some prep work for my case and creating a checklist of documents I need to obtain for the eventual NVC and embassy interview stage (currently waiting for NOA2) I work remotely full-time for an American company (hired by their sister branch in Ireland) but when/if I do eventually get my green card I will retain the same job but will be of course transferred over to the US payroll with US benefits etc. 
 

I know the beneficiaries employment generally isn’t looked at in terms of the petitioner still needs to prove they can support them but I’m just wondering if this information is still something I should show to the consulate officer or uploaded as ‘additional documentation’? My company is more than happy to provide me with any evidence that proves I will continue to work for them when I arrive in the states. 
 

Is this relevant, helpful, worth bringing up?

I had a job already waiting for me when I had my I interview in London. I was asked about it. My husband was unemployed at the time and we had a joint sponsor. The interviewer asked a few questions about it and what I do but it was probably more out of curiosity than procedure.

Gotcha  Good to know it's not something I need to have with me for the interview ❤️ My employers asked me if this would be helpful for the case but I sort of suspected not since they need that proof from the petitioner. Happy i'll be able to keep the same job though!

Having a job ready and waiting or one you can continue working when you get here certainly helps with getting settled here. I liked having the routine of going to work each day from the very beginning. Made me feel that this was where I live, not just where I visit my husband, if you see what I mean.

Oh totally! I'm feeling very lucky to be able to continue working in a job I love. I agree, I think it will help me settle in too  Hubby has been preparing my home office for when I eventually make it over 🤪

Hmm?  The OP already works for a US Company and they have offered him full time employment with income continuing from the same source once in the USA.  This should be documented and the income can be added to the petitioner's I-864.  On the other hand, if the petitioner is already a well qualified sponsor, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for your thoughts ❤️ My husband is employed full-time in the US also and earns enough that we don't require a co-sponsor. Perhaps there's no harm in bringing this information to the interview and if they mention it I can show them a letter from my employer.

It might not directly make your case look stronger in terms of speeding the process, but if you know that you will be able to keep this job for at least a year I would definitely recommend including it on the I-864. Even though your husband makes enough to support you, it wouldn’t hurt to include it and make you less likely to be looked as a public charge.

Thanks for your input ☺️ That sounds like a good idea. Where on the I-864 would you recommend I add this info? I can include a letter from my employer along with my yearly salary in US dollars.

Yes, as the immigrating alien beneficiary, your income can be included on the primary sponsor's I-864 since it will continue once you enter the US and become an LPR.  Here's the relevant section from the I-864 instructions:

 

If you included the income of the intending immigrant who is your spouse (he or she would be counted in Part
5., Item Number 1.), you must provide evidence that his/her income will continue from the current source after
obtaining lawful permanent resident status. He or she does not need to complete Form I-864A unless he or she has
accompanying children.
