Hi everyone,

The title pretty much says it:  which format do you recommend using to file the application for the CR1 visa: mail or online.  If you have time and want to say why that would be great but a simple mail or online will do as well!  Thanks in advance!

I think you mean filing the I-130 petition.  The CR1 visa application form itself (DS-260) can only be submitted online.

My spouse and I did online filing and we don't regret it.  We appreciate the convenience and the same-day receipt.

If you go for online filing, note that all the information you enter on the online form will be converted to a PDF file that's almost identical to the paper version of the I-130 form.  Make sure to review the case snapshot PDF, then go back to the online form to make any necessary corrections before you hit Submit.

Good luck!

Hello 👋

I think the only major difference between filing online is the speed you receive the receipt and the ease of uploading your documents vs needing to print gather and mail it out :) I think there are file size limitations though.

We only paper filed our petition as it was our lawyers preference, it took us maybe 5 weeks-ish to get our initial NOA1. If we were to file again and without lawyer we would probably file online as it seems more convenient and environmentally friendly ;) 🌲

I recommend filing by mail.  There are numerous issues with the online form that have been discussed here.  Some of those issues apply to the entry fields of the PDF form too, but with the PDF form, you can correct by hand.  On paper, YOU are in full control.

Plus for Morocco you need to show an abundance of proof

like all boarding passes to show numerous visits

and just the arabic and english translations take up a lot of space

more proof than other non fraud countries

and keep a copy of everything you send to immigration as you may need to be able to reference it later (or send it again )
