I am sorry about your youngest. Some of the best friends I have from my time overseas are Muslims. They really helped breakdown the social structure of everything for me when I worked in Afghanistan. Which according to research the best way to deradicalize anyone is through the art of discussions and just letting everyone see that in fact the other person is just like you and not anything different.

They are on AWS, it's not that simple to migrate unless they planned for it. Microsoft or Google won't take them on.  I think they are toast.

There's no evidence that this approach in any way prevents radicalization, especially since this censorship approach itself is extreme.

 

Just like the term "hate speech" has been trotted out, but no one with a brain believes its about getting rid of hate.. its simply a weapon to use against people one opposes, politically, ideologically, etc.

 

Radicalization has (had) been its lowest when people stuck to liberal principles of speech, having thick skin and dealing with things we oppose, a maxim that wasn't limited to just government. It shouldn't be surprising that this malicious approach has resulted in more extremism, more polarization, not less.

 

The issue of speech really isn't a novelty, it just seems rather weird that many of the same demographic of people only a few short decades later (following the most prominent free speech movements) are destined to learn the same lesson conservatives back then had to. Seems like a waste to me, but I've already reached my endpoint of trying to talk sense into these people. If they simply want to fight, I'll fight. Whichever way authoritarians want to lose is okay with me. Bending the knee isn't an option for me.

I believe it but I am also very pessimistic in regards to things like. This is especially the case because I work in IT and I can see what technology can do.

Which many times FB allowed them on their platform because if they took it off they wouldn't be able to track it. This has happened worldwide in conflicts like Syria or Burma.

It is a valuable thing to be sceptical and think critically. When you get to a "certain age" cynicism can take over and one runs the risk of "hardening of the categories"

I try to be very optimistic on average but in regards to things like technology or InfoSec in general I am very much pessimistic.
