Go to your Chaplin. He/she will trump everyone.

Good luck and thank you.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Well it gets sent out to the Consulate, they send out the packet and schedule an interview, I think I still had about 2 months or so from this point, but you mileage will hopefully vary.

Hey Keith, that's great news!

My suggestion would be to stay in close contact with whoever got this rolling for you.

The petition is sent through the NVC to the consulate now. However, you're hopefully aware of the long delays your case could face in China if no one is looking out for it; the petition is just one part of the process.

In an unusual situation like this, there is no telling how long it *could* take, but you two can do your part to be ready by having everything required for the visa application ready and waiting (typically called Packet 3).

Keep us posted, and stay on top of it!

What should we have ready for packet #3? I'm sending my fiancee the calling history of my calling cards (all 52 pages), she has pictures of us together, copies of emails that we have sent each other. What all is needed? My fiancee also has a daughter that is 11 years old.

Thanks,

Keith

Keith, the documents required for a fiance visa application vary by Consulate; you should put your efforts into reading up on Chinese fiance applications/interviews.

The affidavit of support, police certificate and other personal records are typically called for at this time. The affidavit of support will come from you; most of the others she will have to round up. You'll need a set of docs for the daughter as well.

The CandleForLove message board is higly regarded for US/China couples, and has a lot of detail there, in addition to what you find from other China/US couples here.

Best wishes,

Don't know that this will be of any help but when we were waiting for my husband to get his interview from the consulate in Dublin, I was going to call and ask them for a speedy one as we wanted him here in time for my brother to be at the wedding before going to Iraq. He ended up getting an interview scheduled the day before I was going to call so I never found out what the reaction would have been, but I bet they would at least keep the circumstances in mind when scheduling. I suggest calling the consulate, can't hurt!

Our story had a happy ending with timing: Our wedding ended up being the weekend of my brother's last leave prior to deployment! :D

Also, if your unit is anything like my brother's (in the Marines) once you actually get called up you will have a few months still in the states, training and what not. Good Luck!!

We're scheduled to go to Fort Dix, NJ in July for training then in October leave for Iraq. It appears that they have the emergency expedite on our k1 visa, I'm praying that the waiting period in Guangzhou, China will not be long.

How do you find out what the waiting period is for the different embassy's?
