Hi guys!  I am 7 years already GC holder. I need your advice as to waiting terms after submitting my N-400 (naturaluzation) file 3 weeks ago. I filed my hard copy of N-400 on December 11, 2020 by Fedex to Lewisville, TX. I tracked the receiving package. It was received under the signature on December 15. I filed with the E-Notification upon receiving so that they would notify me by e-mail or text message. It is January 7. How much time does it take they would notify about Documents receiving? I worry as the hard file contains sensitive information. It has been 3 weeks since the day they received. Should I call them to check or should I still wait? Your advices?

Did you set up a USCIS account?  Usually even if filing via mail, USCIS will update the progress of an N400 on your online account.  Beyond that, with all the Holidays in the past three weeks, I would expect there are some delays as the N400 has to be routed to your local office for processing.

Good Luck!

You should still create a USCIS Online account and transfer it. It makes it easy to track and your sensitive documents would have been from your computer to USCIS server. All you have to do now is wait, which happens to be the middle name of USCIS...

Good luck..

Thank you very much for your opinion and advice. I agree with you that I need to wait for a while. I understand that it was a long holiday period plus pandemic. Looks like my box was not opened even as if it is opened they would take N-400 their service fee but they didn't cash the check either. Looks like the box is laying somewhere in the corner in their office. I made a mistake I had to apply electronically. It would be much quicker...immidiate confirmation..and etc

Thank you so much! Opinions are so important here. I love this platform: very friendly, very supportive. I am very grateful for all volunteers and active members.

I guess I will follow your advise and will be  waiting and will try to open the electronic account like you advised.

Do u know how much time the e-account can be opened? as I remember that I opened one before for electronic filing my N-400 before taking a decision to file/MAIL a hard copy.  I opened on September 1. I never used it though. May be it is expired or just closed and I need to open the new one. I guess I need to try to enter the previous one and if it will not work out/will not be available then I need to go ahead and open the new one. As far as I have heard this electronic accounts are valid something like 30  days? Thank you one more time.

The electronic account is yours forever, you should still be able to sign in, your might have to reset your password though. I think you can transfer your N-400 application from paper to your account. https://www.uscis.gov/n-400 second alert.....You will need your receipt notice to add your paper application to your account. See Step 13.

My wife’s account is still available after her Naturalization back in 2018.  She also filed that via mail back then, but also set up an account, and all NOAs were posted eventually.  Just recently we used the same account to file an I130 for her son and it was still active even though she hadn’t logged into it for over two years.

Good Luck!
