Choosing to postpone medical/interview due to pregnancy?

You could but the easiest thing would be to delay the NVC stage vs trying to delay the interview.  They use a lead cover when you get the xray in case of pregnancy for women (at least they did for me at Montreal even though I can't get pregnant.) As someone who's taken xrays and had to wear lead vests, thyroid covers, and gloves, i think you should be safe but I personally would rather have a baby in Canada than in the USA as well.

I tried to delay things at the NVC stage, but they wouldn't let me. The NVC just said they just schedule interviews in the order they come available so there was nothing I could do. I tried contacting the consulate in advance for advice, but haven't got a reply back yet. In the meantime they scheduled us for an interview so now I'll have to contact the consulate for sure.

I have heard that the x-ray risks to the baby are supposedly low, but they're not zero and we are still not comfortable with those risks. Not to mention the risk of getting covid in Montreal right now while pregnant (which can be very dangerous) or having a pregnancy complication so far away from home and ending up in hospital in Montreal. And yes, I'd like to have the baby in Canada - I'm due only two months after the interview date so I'd rather (and it'd be much safer for me and baby) to just have the baby before the interview.

so how you get a new interview date is that you will miss the interview and then you'll have to reschedule yourself.  Montreal needs to know you are doing this ahead of time.

At what point did you try to delay things at the NVC? If you just didn't submit something you can delay for a year but it sounds like you just submitted everything when it came up. :time:

It was probably close to a year ago now that we finally had the opportunity to submit our documents to NVC, which of course we did. I wasn't even pregnant yet at that point so we had no reason not to submit documents. I tried to delay scheduling the interview after we were DQ at NVC stage but before we had been assigned an interview.

Well hopefully rescheduling your interview won't take another year.

did you pass your interview date yet? I'm scheduled for March 1st but we are looking to reschedule as well. A bit nervous they wont have any dates upcoming, we can definitely wait till over the summer though.

I contacted the Montreal Consulate and they told me that they aren't using the online system to reschedule interviews at the moment (so I guess the waiting until past the interview date to reschedule online is not relevant right now). They told me they would contact me when another interview date becomes available, but advised me that it would likely be a few months.
