It wouldn't bother me so much if she had a stamp, but she doesn't even have that. It feels like we're moving backwards. What's next? Have her do a new application because the version of the application form she used has suddenly expired?

My guess is that there was something wrong with the taking of the original fingerprints and the FBI couldn't use them, so you'll have to do them again...

If that's the case, why would the case status show that the results of the fingerprint review had been received? They should have caught this last April when they first received the results.

Well, in any event, we mailed our letter today with:

a copy of the new biometrics notice

a copy of the I-485 receipt notice showing the biometrics stamp

a copy of the case status showing the biometrics results were received in April 2005

We made the letter to the attention of the officer who interviewed us. I'm not really expecting a response, but I feel better knowing I tried to do something about it.

Don't you think it is worth a day's pay to get this done and move on with your case? For whatever reason, they have requested they be done again - and there could be several reasons - just get it out of the way and then you can get your application processed. I know it is a pain, but let me tell you this....my husband has lost somewhere in the region of $8000 in lost pay, having to take time off to attend appointments we didn't need either! One day's pay is worth it to you both, isn't it?

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

I guess I'll find out if it's worth losing a day of work once we see what they do after we've done what they've asked us to do.

There was a VJ member that had his interview, and then had to have his fingerprints again even though they hadn't expired. I think he got approved pretty quickly after having the fingerprints done. Fingerprints do expire after 15 months according to USCIS, but this obviously does not apply to your case.

I know it would be a hassle for your wife to get off work to have the fingerprints done again, but if you don't hear back from your local office I wouldn't risk ignoring the request for fingerprints.

((Success))

Believe me... We'll show up for the biometrics, but I wasn't going to just let it go without filing a protest.

I was one of those folks, my wife had to do her biometric again even though it was less than 6 months. We had the interview and you get the normal please do not call us until the 120 days have passed by then you should receive your green card. ON the positive side, with the Approval letter if you are closed by an uscis office you can make an appt and have them stamp her passport(we did), then it just a matter of waiting for the card.

Sadly the 120 days passed and the card never showed up we were about to go to the uscis office to ask them whats' going on then i Got a letter saying we need to go fo another biometric, not sure if they lost it, what happened.

Positive note

Once the biometric was completed we received the Green card within 2 weeks, so

CHEERS!!! It's nothing to worry about it's more an INCONVENIENCE, what can we do, we are at the mercy of the USCIS, But i wish someone there could explain to us why we had to do it again, No ANSWER just go and do it again we were told.

Did you get an approval letter before or after doing the biometrics again?

We got an approval letter letter a couple of days after the interview, the biometric request was a couple of months down the road after the 120 days expiration notice

I'm not sure if we'll get an approval letter before the biometrics. It would be nice to have something to let us know she's on her way to approval, as opposed to on her way to a lenghty background check and more review.

I've done all I can do at this point. We just have to wait two weeks to get the new biometrics done.

Ours was a combo. We were approved but needed the 'additional biometrics" in our letter.

rch99, did you get the approval and biometrics notice in the same envelope or did they come separately?

I suppose they could have mailed two notices and we just happened to get the biometrics one first. We'll hope for the best.
