MSNBC clearly sand bagged Ann Coulter with the phone call from Elizabeth Edwards. Was this a news broadcast or a biased reality TV show?

A while ago on Bill Maher’s show Democratic Rep Barney Frank quoted bloggers from the HuffingtonPost Web log saying the bomb was wasted when it missed Cheney. Quoting the blog, Bill Maher said, "I have zero doubt that if ####### Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow." Asked by Frank if Maher believed that sentiment, the host replied, "I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact."

Recently Ann Coulter said "If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot,", riffing on Maher's comment during his HBO show in which he said "people wouldn't be dying needlessly" if Cheney had been killed during an insurgent attack that happened while he was in Afghanistan.

From John Edwards website "Can you help us raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week to keep this campaign charging ahead and fight back against the politics of bigotry?"

To recap, let someone say in seriousness that the VP of the US should have been killed and that is OK. Let someone make a joking reference against a Presidential Candidate and that’s not OK. Let the Presidential Candidate raise money off the same person they are condemning and that’s OK. Now I get it – clear as mud…

Ann kicked Edwards azz. I watched that interview. Edwards has been making money on their sons death. Ann called her on it. I thought it was great! John Edwards is a chopf##k.

I sometimes wonder if some of the people here have any human feelings at all. The most offensive thing here in that video is the inability to distinguish a bereaved mother from the wife of a presidential candidate and respond to what is that family's tragedy in anything less than a purely cynical manner.

I don't condone those other comments either BTW - the point is not what Coulter said, but her total lack of any empathetic reaction when confronted with "the mother of that child". As I said, it doesn't take much to say "I'm sorry for your loss" or "I'm sorry you were offended". Some people, it seems, are completely unable to separate politics from other areas of life - and that is quite sad.

Marc its not "guilt" to suggest that using a person's family tragedy to make public jokes at their expense is, at best, below the belt and rather odious. IMO its not unlike someone who jeers at the handicapped or the mentally ill.

I can understand partisan loyalties - deluded as they may be. But you lose all credibility IMO when you start defending people who have apparently no conscience, scruples or social morality.

Ann said that over 3 years ago and she was referring to how Edwards was using the death to his advantage to raise funds. Ann was exposing the disgusting fact that Edwards was using the tragedy to his advantage. Just like he uses everything Ann says about him to try and raise more money. IMO Edwards is a true hypocrite – just look at how he charged $50,000 to talk about the poor. Did he donate that money to the poor? I think not.

I do not condone everything Ann says. I believe she is very abrasive and says things that people do not want to hear and says them in a sarcastic way people do not appreciate.

IMO there is a very valid difference between attacking the person who is ill or passed away and commenting on someone else who is using the ill or dead person to their advantage to raise money for a politcal campaign. Does that make sense? Ann Coulter did not attack the dead child, she commented on how John Edwards was using the childs death to his advantage to raise money. See the difference?
