Did your fiance get a biometrics appointment letter? I think code 1 means fingerprints only, but I'm not 100% sure. I didn't have to go to a bio appointment for my I-129F. I was fingerprinted at my interview and then again at the POE (Point of entry) when I came into the US with my visa.

Also, please fill your timeline as it will help us help you better. ;)

This does sound strange... I don't know why this would happen. Is it YOU who is being asked to go to have your biometrics done, or your fiancee who's not even here yet? In your friend's case, it sounds like you're talking about the biometrics appointments for AOS and/or EAD, in which case, it's not 'his' biometrics, it's his wife's. That is normal - but I've not heard of a USC being asked to go for biometrics during the I-129F process. Possibly a mistake? Maybe call the USCIS 1-800 number to ask for more information, or schedule an Infopass appointment?

And yes... please fill in your timeline, that might give some more clue as to what's going on. What stage of the process are you at?

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

john and irma vestal,

I-129 is for an alien worker, not an alien fiance(e). Point being that you need to take care to provide accurate information if you hope to get a good answer to your question.

What is it that indicates a code 1 biometrics appointment?

Anyone obtaining a visa to visit America will be fingerprinted and photographed digitally before their arrival. Most U.S. embassies are doing this during the visa interview process. In your fiancee's case, if could be that the embassy has found it more expedient to do that step separately.

The process is intended to insure that the person issued a visa is the correct one entering the country. It should not be a problem.
