Tourist Visa Chances With Affidavit of Support

Anybody have a lot of experience with the tourist visa? I'm curious if there's any chance whatsoever of my fiance from Ukraine getting one with my affidavit of support? She is unemployed on purpose for her daughter etc. My financial situation is quite good so does the affidavit of support help at all? Thanks

Those facts will harm her chances for a tourist visa.  But, she can certainly apply.  You have only $160 to lose.

She will need strong ties to her country. .......as in reasons she will return.

She has to apply and be able to travel on her own merit

she has to show ties to her home country that affirm she will return after visiting

own  a house or apartment

strong job ties

if she can not show she will return it is a loss of fee / immigration does not refund

I agree with the other responses. The only thing I will add it there is no affidavit of support for a tourist visa.

Your affidavit of support will be useless.  Here's what the Department of State says --

 

"Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa."

you're asking in regards to the one used for K1?

Just want to echo the others: there's no affidavit of support for B vistor visas. You can provide supporting documents that she can bring with her to the interview (such as proof that the trip will be paid for), but the consular office is not obligated to look at it (indeed they rarely do) and does not have to consider it when making the decision. Same goes for her own supporting documents, such as owning property, etc....she can bring all of this evidence to the interview, but the CO is not required to actually look at it, so don't be surprirzed if they don't.

 

Usually when someone else is paying for the trip, that makes it harder to get approved but I've also known cases who did get approved in this circumstance, however they had other homecountry ties and extensive proof of travel to Europe, etc. Many factors will be considered but the biggest one is ties to the homecountry vs. ties to the US. Since she has a fiance in the US, overcoming intent to immigrate will be hard.

With no job it's making it super easy for them to deny her.

Being unemployed and waiting on a K-1 means she has no chances of getting a tourist visa to visit the US fiance.  The CO will view the visitor visa application as a means to skip the requirements of the K-1 and that the visitor visa applicant will go to the US, marry, and adjust status on the B-2.  

An Affidavit of Support would only hurt her chances of getting a visitor visa.

There's no such thing as an affidavit of support for a tourist visa.

My wifes niece insisted I write some sort of invitation letter when her daughter was traveling to Houston in January with grandparents. I told her it was a waste of time But I wrote it anyway and got it notarized.

 

Predictably the US Consular officer in  Rio just pushed it away and did not look at it. She got the visa. She is only 9. They had a few questions why she wasnt traveling with parents.

Affidavits carry very little weight because you can basically get anyone to write them and notarizing is just for the signature not statement.
