Trespassers?

  1. 1. You leave your house door open. People waltz into your home and you give them chores to do. You make them live in the basement, you don't pay them a legal minimum wage. After 10 years of such service, if you were to accuse these workers of trespassing on your property, would you be right?

    • Yes - I didn't invite them in. So what if I left the door open and let them do my chores?

    • No - I left the door open. I used their services for all these years. It would be hypocritical to call them trespassers now.

Nope. Legally they'd be considered squatters. You could probably eventually get them out, but you couldn't just call the police and have them removed, you'd have to sue them in court first and get a judge to give you permission.
