If he needs to travel, within 30 days, he can request an urgent appointment.

They said that it needs to be an emergency (at this time it is not) and that he would need proof of the emergency.

Others have been able to get a stamp just by showing proof of upcoming travel.  It doesn't need to be a life-or-death emergency.  USCIS is at fault anyway because your husband's GC is obviously out of normal processing time.  I suspect the phone reps are just giving your husband the runaround by saying he needs biometrics.

Call USCIS and schedule an emergency Infopass appointment to get an I-551 stamp for upcoming travel.  Also, contact your congressperson and senator to inquire on your husband's behalf about his GC.

Have you all only spoken to the person who answers the phone? Have they ever escalated it to a tier 2 officer? If not, next time you can ask for a tier 2. They are usually able to see a little more info.

Them requiring biometrics to issue the green card is very bizarre I've never heard of this. .

Hi everyone,

I checked the forums and I'm not sure if I see to many concerns about this topic yet. My husband has been here almost a year and has not received his green card because he has not been able to get an appointment to complete his biometrics. Also, I saw a YouTube video that said biometric appointment have not only been backlogged due to COVID but also the Trump administration.

Does anyone have more information about this? My husband's main concern involves traveling because he does not want to travel without his green card.

CR1 Visa holders usually do not need to have biometrics appointment.

K1 Visa holders do!

HOWEVER, because we have heard some centers may lose applicants’ documents (surprisingly!!!), there have been some crazy “exceptions.”

Make sure the specific fee mentioned got paid.

If that has already been done, try to contact them, but be psychologically  prepared:

Curious as to why the Visa fee was paid before even the interview. The fee for the greencard was to be paid after the interview and the visa approved. This means potentially having the visa in hand.

I think I needed a number from the actual visa to pay, but I may be mistaken.

Paying too early may have been a reason, or using the incorrect number/code when paying.

Greetings everyone, I wanted to give you an update....

So my husband kept calling the USCIS and he finally got a letter for a biometrics appointment on February 16, 2021 at 8AM. They did not allow me to come in with him, so my husband said that they woman who took his fingerprints was very since but could not answer some of the questions he had. Like:

1. How soon will I get the green card?

2. When will it expire?

3. Will I get the 2 year since I waited so long or will it be the 10 year?

Anyway, we got an update on February 20, 2021 (Super FAST) 🥳 and I provided it below. Thanks for your help everyone.
