My wife and I had to move in mid-December. We changed our address with USCIS and paid for forwarding services to our new address from USPS.

Sure enough, we get a notification on the case tracker on December 23rd that my wife’s green card interview was scheduled and that a notice was sent.

With our mail situation, we immediately called USCIS, and the agent confirmed that the letter was sent to our old address (of course). We asked for a Tier 2 representative, hoping that a Tier 2 would be able to at least give us the interview date, and we were told that the Tier 2 would call back in 2-7 days.

It’s January 2nd now and the notice hasn’t appeared at our new address, the Tier 2 hasn’t called, and the case tracker hasn’t changed. I’m getting more and more nervous with each passing day between the scheduling, but don’t know what else we can do at this point. We were able to confirm (by contacting the new tenant) that the letter had not come to our old address (presumably because it is being held by USPS for forwarding). I find it ridiculous that the USCIS customer service line can’t tell you the date of an interview that’s scheduled in their own system.

Any ideas?

Call again and ask them to put in a request for a tier 2 with the URGENT option. I was in a similar situation recently and with the urgent option, they called within two days and managed to email me the form!!

Nvm, I just saw that you recieved the form already but maybe this will help someone else.

Thank you! I'm a little nervous cause my husband often forget things, like for example, what we did last Christmas)) hopefully they not going to ask too many details. )

Haha.  Stiff like that is fine.  Maybe try and practice some questions with each other?  When we went for my wife's interview, he went over the 485 application with my wife, then he basically asked me 2 questions, and my wife 2 questions.  Like I said, confidence is key!

I wouldn't panic just yet. The holidays mean that there have likely been delays in the process both at USCIS and USPS.

The Tier 2 officer can definitely see the date of the interview. Back when my interview was scheduled, I called and found out over the phone. So I would recommend that you try calling again a couple of times until you're successful in speaking with a Tier 2 officer.

In the meanwhile, you're not in immediate danger of missing your interview date. Most interviews are scheduled at least a month out, so you have some time still to find out the date (either via phone or by waiting for the mail).

It will surely help me, my case has updated to "interview scheduled" on December 18th, and we still haven't received the notice in the mailbox..

Finally did just now since its monday today!

We requested a tier 2 officer, but the assistant on the phone told us that on her end she sees the office that was suppose to send me out a notice in the mail has not done that yet, and the reason is that due to covid 19 they are trying to figure out or confirm\change the date they have scheduled my interview for, or something like that, so once they will figure it out they will send me a notice in the mail??

This is the first time I ever hear of something like that, has something as similar as this ever happened to any of you?

Yes. I have informed delivery for both the new address and old address. I check it every morning and see pictures of the mail.

I have the same situation with you! I got the update on Dec 23 saying that my interview was scheduled but I moved on Dec 28, so far I didn’t receive the notice yet. Did you get yours now?

I tried to call USCIS but I wasn’t luck to talk with a representative, I was frustrated the robot repeated the same thing.

What I can do! Thanks for your advice folks!

Update:

We called USCIS yesterday and requested a Tier 2 on an urgent basis. The rep said that a Tier 2 would call back within 48 hours.

The Tier 2 called this afternoon. We explained the situation and she said that since it had been 10 days since the notice was mailed, that she would email us the notice. The notice appeared as a scan in our email 10 minutes after the call.

Interview date is February 3rd.

FWIW, the notice actually was mailed to the correct address (our new address). I guess it just hasn’t arrived yet. And USCIS actually scheduled our interview in our new city, which is nice!

Crisis averted.

Try the following:

What could I say? I could not say more “thanks” to you guys!!!!
My husband tried this method and we was put through in one minute! The officer immediately collected my information and have a tier 2 officer follow up with me just in the next hour. So they did mailed the notice to my old place and now they email me the copy of the notice! The interview will be on Jan. 20 woohoo!

P.S. the officer also told us the USPS will NOT forward the government mail.

Thank you again for all your kind help! I wish everyone good luck and have a new start in 2021!
