They didn’t have one available today. The next one is scheduled for Nov 6 which is the one I’ll be attending.

Hey there! for the folks who are waiting to hear from Newark office. Just got my interview scheduled for Dec 8. Pretty excited! I'll add the update on the sheet.

I was approved at Fairfax, VA yesterday.  Very straight forward, ceremony on Nov 6.  Congrats to others who were approved same day. 

- interviewer had a heavy accent, wore mask and didn't face me when asking questions, and often would ask single word questions, which even as a native english speaker made it hard for me to understand.  Once he said "Married?" and it sound like he was saying "Email?" - I found that by repeating his question before answering prevented misunderstandings. 
- I got one question wrong in civics (first one) before the next 6 right, completely blanked out on what were the rights provided by declaration of independence (life, liberty, happiness) 

- was asked if I'd provided weapons to others (which I had to clarify as I'd literally gone with my wife to the shooting range a week earlier), interviewer and I had a laugh about that one. 
- he had my entire copy of all paperwork I'd ever sent, and really appreciated that we'd sorted out each part of evidence with tabs from the orginal AOS and ROC filings, said that because of how well organized he really didn't need to ask me much. 

All in all very easy process, can't wait till the 6th when it's all over and I'll never have to think about USCIS ever again.

This morning I received an email about an action on my case. I entered the website and noticed that an interview was scheduled for me for December 1. I filed on January 13, 2021.

And the ordeal is finally over.  Citizenship acquired, registered to vote, passport time booked in on Tuesday. 
 

Now, to ever visit USCIS offices ever again.

Hi…any other person with same situation?now it’s saying 5 months to take action on my case ☹️☹️…just waiting for the interview to be scheduled.

I wanted to provide an update. If you remember we lost patience and filed the N-400 before the I-751 was processed, and my wife had her N400(March 2020 filer) interview in June.

 

The officer gave her the Civics test, she passed, only for the officer to say we can't schedule you for oath because she didn't have the I-751 paperwork and it needs to be approved before she could review it for Natrualization. Our file was in Potomac Service Center and as everyone knows, it is sloooooow. 

 

On October 2nd, we left Virginia after living there for three years and relocated back home to Florida, which is where we started our Visa Journey 5 1/2- 6 years ago. 

 

I changed the address for our relocation in the system, not knowing what the cause and effect would be, but knowing that any type of change within USCIS, when already in process can be a bad thing. I was starting to see some of the couples receiving approvals, without interviews that filed on dates close to ours. I was kind of wishing we had just hung out in VA a little longer.

 

On October 4th we received notification that a new office had jurisdiction over the file. Around two weeks later, we received notice that we would have an I-751 interview on November 30th. 

 

Today is November 30th. Interview lasted around 50 minutes. The male officer did the swearing in, biometrics and began immediately asking questions. Literally, 50 minutes of questions. Started with how we met, and the circumstances of that meeting. Then he went to why we moved to VA and left Florida, ask me to detail our complete timeline in VA. He was more focused on asking me questions, only asking my spouse probably 4 or 5 questions throughout the interview.  Depending on how I asnwered, spun him off to a question he would then reaffirm with my wife or a new question for her. This was very thorough but not interrogative, but most certainly thorough. 

 

He asked for any other documentation we had brought, only from the time after the inital I-751 filing. This was not what the interview letter asked for, but I was able to provide it. I also brought a photo book, I made through Google, that was a gift for my wifs last Christmas. I asked him if he wanted to see that as well, and he did.  He sorted papers, kept what he wanted and set the others aside. He looked at the photo book, front to back. He then said you can have your ID's and expired green card and also handed me the stack of papers of evidence that he didn't want to keep. 

 

He said, you will not be getting a green card because you had already filed for Naturalization. I cannot approve you because there are additional security checks that need to be conducted. He then asked if we had any questions for him. We didn't and he walked us out and said have a great day! 

 

Again there were positive signs, but we left again feeling in limbo. The Officer was not intense, he was very professional and thorough. He was also very purposeful in how he led the conversation. 

 

Upon checking the USCIS site, it said "We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review."

 

Upon second check a bit later "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled."

 

What a day!  It still hasn't sunk in, feeling drained and numb. Soon this will all be behind us. The emotions when I can watch my wife take the oath at the ceremony and see her sense of pride will never be able to be captured in words. I can hardly wait!

Filed on January 29th in Miami, FL. Got Biometrics Reuse on February 19th. No update since. Estimated time is now showing 3 months. I know of others that filed after me and already had their interview and oath ceremony. Anyone seeing anything similar?

 Filed 1/29/21 under 3 year rule. Finally naturalized a couple weeks ago, sharing timeline update ☺️ 

2021-01-29	- We received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, and sent you a receipt notice.
2021-08-31	- We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
2021-09-28	- We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.
2021-10-05	- We scheduled you for an oath ceremony for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
2021-10-05	- Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.
2021-10-05	- We cancelled the scheduled appointment for the oath ceremony for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.

2021-11-02	- We scheduled you for an oath ceremony for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.

Anybody from New Jersey who got the interview? My friend applied in January and still waiting. His account says 8 months left.

 

I applied in August mine also says 8 months.

I submitted mine last June, my account shows I still have 10 months. But my interview is next month. You really can’t go by the estimated time frame that’s listed on your account. It’s just an average based on where you’re at in the journey.

Update: I went for the interview and my application has been approved. Oath ceremony scheduled for February 25th. 

The interview was about 15 minutes in all. The Officer did not ask for any document (surprised he did not even ask for my marriage certificate). 

Questions asked:

How many times do we elect the House of Rep.

Who is the first U.S. President 

Name one of the power/responsibility of the state

Which ocean is in the West Coast

Who is the Chief Justice

At what age are you eligible to vote.

I had the interview last august & finally received the oath invitation for March. ..I just have now a different problem
