It seems like everyone on this website with an Albanian fiance uses a consulate other than Tirana. Can I ask why that is? Is there something I am missing?

They don't have a choice of Albania. I have complained, but they haven't fixed it so we all get the first country that starts with an A:-)

babybluesusie,

Apparently the US embassy in Tirana is not an immigrant visa issuing post. The K visas are processed only by immigrant visa issuing posts.

Actually it is...

Consular Section

U.S. Embassy

Rr. Elbasanit, No. 103

Tirana, Albania

Visa Services

Hours of Operation

The Consular Section is open from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. for non-immigrant visa operations and continues from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for immigrant visa operations.

The problem is that Albania is not an Embassy option on the VJ timelines

fwaguy,

Good eyes, I didn't spot that.

And that being the case, I've no idea why K visas aren't issued in Tirana - maybe the OP is wrong in the assumption that they aren't?
