I keep seeing posts where people say a lot of immigration stuff is going to happen on the.29th, but I haven’t seen anything that says what the actual source for this date is. Do you have a source?

It does not look like the proclamations restricting immigration will be rescinded. It is still not possible to go get an immigrant visa except for the exceptions (spouse, children etc.). Parents of US citizens still cannot come.

It’s probably going to be about asylum seekers and refugees. I do not think it will touch upon the immigration ban put in place because of covid. No matter what is done, no immigrant is coming because of the immigration ban plus most embassies are closed or are operating at limited scope (student visas and other less frequently sought visa categories). US is not alone. I think the whole world is in the same act.

Oui I’ve heard something from a senator about upcoming immigration related actions President Biden is going to take on the 29th.

Very disappointed. It seems that Biden will be like Obama. Lots of words but little to no change in immigration policy. My mother is waiting for more than two years to get an interview.

DACA doesn’t count as a significant change in immigration policy? And you realize there is a limit as to how much a president can do via executive power right?

And Biden has started on immigration policy, he just hasn’t got to where you’d like yet. He also has other priorities, like thousands of people a day dying of Covid. Not sure exactly how much y’all expect to happen in two days. I know this ban is important to people here, but in the big scheme of things it just is lower down on the priority list than some other things.

This is not about DACA. It’s about an Executive Order that is restricting LEGAL immigration, and YES I’m very disappointed that this is not a priority for the President.

You said Obama made no real changes. I pointed out he did. Sorry your mom might have to wait two more months while people are dying.

@SusieQQQ

I think you are not understanding the main point. People who are concerned about Proclamation due to Covid really think that the ban was not necessary especially when the basis was Impact on labour market by Legal immigrants. Had it been due to Covid, they would have made negative Covid testing a requirement at the port of entry. It was a balatant attack on Legal immigration by Orange clown as he always stated that only immediate family should be allowed to come to USA from day 1 of his office. How come most elderly parents can compete with American jobs when you are allowing much younger SPOUSES to come in?

The topic is the extension of the immigration ban. I was under the impression that the majority of people here were referring to Proclamations 10014 and 10052. Not sure if DACA has anything to do with these proclamations.
