Wonderful news!

What are the steps now for the people whose visas expired due to covid and they weren't able to come to US to get their green cards?

Need to contact their consulate/embassy for reIssuance. They will need to do medicals again and usually will need to pay the fee again.

If longer than a year then new PCC and redoing of DS260 will be needed.

I had my interview on October 2019 and my visa was approved, then I went into ap, I do realize I will have to do my medical again but would there be anything else needed to be done? And should I expect to be effected by a backlog?

You’ll probably need new police certificates and to redo the DS260, the embassy will let you know what they need when they are ready to proceed with the case. Assuming the AP has been resolved, it should just be a case of printing the visa - there may be a “queue” for this too but having interviewed that far back you are probably near the front of it.

Hello, I am an LPR in the USA and my wife is from China. I got DQ(everything approved in Jan for NVC) then was waiting to hear back for an interview then covid happened and the bans. I read that they still banned China and other countries even after the Proclamation 10014  was lifted , is there an exempt for spouses?  The language wasn't clear, thank you to anyone that can answer.

Question for ya'll: NVC just said that they needed an additional document from me.

Regardless of the Trump ban, would they have approved of my documents? Just not schedule the interview? Asking because I submitted my docs late December and heard back today for the additional document. If I submitted them in July, they still would have been approved? Or were they not looking at our parents files at all?

Plenty of cases were getting DQ during the ban.

Your timeline is in line with NVC published timeframes: “Current case review time: As of 15-MAR-2021, we are reviewing documents submitted to us on 8-DEC-2020.”

Got it thanks. Dang wish I submitted the documents sooner. Thought zero work was being done on them

Note that your parents' cases are now affected by Biden's South Africa COVID proclamation (I'm assuming your parents are currently in South Africa): https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/28/2021-02024/suspension-of-entry-as-immigrants-and-nonimmigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a-risk-of

Luckily they are not there for the past year. Left right before COVID
