Copies are fine.  As for me I brought both original and copies of all my documents.  After going through nearly a year of waiting and patience, I made sure I had everything with me.  "Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."

Are scanned copies of all fine for Sydney, as well? One paper from the Consulate I have printed says originals while another says copies. But, I apparently have to send an original of my divorce decree from 10 years ago, so I guess I may as well send it all together, LOL.

For the interview, the beneficiary should submit to the CO an Original copy and a Copy of their important documents such as Birth Certificate, Divorce etc. Offer the CO the original and copy and indicate to them if they would like to keep a copy the copy is theirs. This is "normal procedure".
