The online status just states that they have received our documentation and to await the next steps. Are people with required biometric appointments being notified on the USCIS portal as well

Not every time. Ours wasn't updated online, we were only notified by mail.

Should we expect an interview if we are sent a biometrics letter (without it being waived). My wife received her biometrics letter about 2 weeks ago and her appointment is set for the 9th of September.

What type of visa did she come in with? And did you have an interview at AOS stage?

I like to think ahead.  My husband I751 extension letter is set to expire in November 2022.  How many days before that expiration date should we be asking for an infopass to get the I551 stamp?

Aren't they re-issuing letters to all pending i751s that will extend status to 24 months?

Regarding the stamp, who knows what the situation will be in 2022/2023. Right now there have been reports of people getting appointments for stamps 30 days from expiration, some 14 days from expiration. I probably wouldn't worry about it until 90 days from expiration of the letter.

My file is in Potomac.  And according to that thread, they are just working on December 2019/ January 2020.  I am in for a long haul.  But you are right.  I will worry about it 90 days out.  I just wanted to set a reminder on my phone.

NBC Service Center here.

Got the biometrics letter yesterday with the appointment scheduled for the end of this month.

Will the big scary let's-verify-if-this-couple-is-legit interview happen at the same time as this biometrics appointment? Or will we have to wait for another letter that schedules us for another appointment?

Wife entered on a CR-1 visa. She was interviewed at a US Embassy in Japan, but there was no AOS because it was never a K-1/2 Fiancee visa.

Yeah, sadly, that's what we expected. If I recall correctly, MSC is the same as NBC at this point because our case number begins with MSC but our letter shows that our Service Center is NBC.
