Roughly how long should I take to receive the NOA1, I see most people getting them fairly quick, even days after they receive the text and have their money cashed.

My check was cashed on the 26th, and still no NOA1

Pre-Covid, a week was possible.  I have seen reports of extension letters  now taking 4-6 weeks.  But, hopefully, it will be soon since they have cashed your check.

This happened to me today but bc I filled out a signature incorrect. They sent back my money order and package. Did you get a letter saying to fix and just resend ? My concern now is technically my green card is expired so it’s as if I’m filling late

Sorry that yours got rejected. For your concern - When you resend the package, explain why you are filing late and indicate first package that was timely sent was rejected, and that until you got the rejection notice back, your card was expired. You are gonna be fine.

That's the most common rejection reason nowadays unfortunately. IMO, they could make I-751 online as well. I don't know why it is paper filed. Even for the paper filed cases, they could make arrangements such that people can pay online, and attach confirmation number in the package while sending, so that they could eliminate at least one way of rejection reasons. Then if package is rejected for another reason, they could just refund the payment made. I think there should be lots of ways of payment in this technology era to eliminate this problem occured for lots of people. Rejection for just a payment is really annoying, and the most preventable thing in USCIS side if they change their payment system. Sending checks is also the most ancient way of payment imo, but when I heard the stories about credit card, sending check seemed safer.

Question regarding filing out I-751 part 9/10. If you did not use a interpreter or attorney did you leave this blank (n/a)??

Hey folks,

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I got my NOA on Mar 26th after my application was received on Feb 10th.

2 questions:

1. I did not get anything in terms of email. I had definitely filled out the form to get notifications there. Wonder if there's a way to re-add my email so I can get e-notifications? They might have typed my email incorrectly and that's why I don't get it there.

2. I'm currently based out of California and I'm waiting for the biometrics appointment (or if they'll waive it). The thing is, we are hoping to move to Texas in May due to some better job opportunities we both got there. I'm wondering what I should do in this case if the biometrics appointment doesn't come in time? And if it does, is there a way to have to transferred to the Texas location along with my file?

Hi,

1. Most people aren't getting any email/text notifications nowadays, uscis seems to have problems sending those due to huge backlog. Since you get your noa, it is not a problem anymore.

2. When you move, you'll need to change your address via form ar-11, and your sponsor will need to change address via form i-865. Theoritically, this should be enough for uscis to transfer your case. But (a huge but) uscis is seldomly successful at changing addresses. Therefore, please make sure you forward emails through usps, and make sure checking your status frequently. Most people got biometrics waived, and fingerprints have been used from aos. That may not be the case for you, but it will most probably be waived so you wouldn't have to worry about changing addresses in terms of biometrics.

I wrote "N/A" on every single space that did not apply to me. I know a lot of people have said to leave it blank, but I did not want to give USCIS a reason to reject my application and thus, I followed their instructions to the t.
