I don't know if you quoted the wrong part, but how is that different from what I said?

You statement was correct but when I read it, I associated the part you put in parentheses with the last part.  E.g., "which has nothing to do with having a green card and having a SSN."  My mistake.  Getting more coffee now!

If you read too fast ( like I just did ) and overlook the ")" it seems like it's one sentence and then it would be different. Don't know if that happened but did happened to me 😄

taking stimulus can bite them back if USCIS questions the need for financial stimulus  if they are financially self sufficient and possibly disqualify them for green card

I don't think you understand what the stimulus is.  You don't "apply" for it.  Eligibility is based on the previous year's household income/filing status.  There is no 'public charge' consideration.

No, not correct.  For the second stimulus:

Now, individuals earning up to $87,000 and couples earning up to $174,000 will receive some form of payment. Individuals who earned up to $75,000 in 2019 will get the full amount of $600 and couples that earned up to $150,000 will receive $1,200.

A couple meeting all requirements and showing $140,000 income will get $600 X 2 = 1200.

A single person showing 140k income will get nothing.  A couple showing 140k income with get the full payment.

I would guess your husband is like me.  The whole bill as passed is terrible.  The stimulus check is just one part.

Well the post said 140k+ so no indication on how much the husband makes exactly. But I was merely joking anyway...

It’s not a means-tested benefit. It’s available to every household who filed a tax return with a reported 2019 income of $150k or less for a couple filing together or $75k for a single filer. It’s not based on need. It’s a tax break.
