Hello everyone,

to make short:

Original documents sent - 01/16/2020

first NOA - 01/24/2020

Request for evidence 04/17/2020 -- Sent a lot of pictures and letters - but they wanted EXACT dates on pictures and on meetings letters -- they want boarding passes instead of flight reservations (ALL sent)

NOA2 - Approval Notice 06/23/2020 -- valid from 06/23/2020 - 10/22/2020

Have not received anything since then.. emailed and they just provided generic response due to Covid

Online case status: Approved

I dont have a case number in Colombia, who to reach now? does NVC have that number?

the NOA2 still good until they open to process the original documents right?

thanks ahead

There are two places to locate your case number that NVC assigns. First is the letter you received from NVC indicating that your file was sent to your embassy. Do you have such a document? Second is to contact NVC to ask for the case number.

Details on how to contact NVC are in this handy PDF.

You shouldn't have a concern for the expiration date on your NOA2. Your current NOA2 is valid for four months but can be extended by the discretion of the embassy in four month increments to a one-year total. With the current situation, I see no problem with you being able to proceed to receiving a visa in the NOA2 period of one year. Nothing must be done by you for the extension. When your embassy opens again, they will address this.

If the fiancé(e) visa petition expires, you may revalidate the petition with a letter from the petitioner and beneficiary stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you will do so within 90 days of your arrival in the United States. You should take the letter with you to your visa interview in the future, not mail it or email it to the Embassy.

Hello Greenbaum,

have you heard anything about how petitions are being handled which are expiring while with the NVC? I wonder if anyone has spoken to NVC about this. Our original petition was approved in March 2020 and has been at NVC since about May, and our NOA2 “expired” July 29th. Let’s say “worst case scenario” it continues to sit at NVC until July of 2021, I wonder what might happen? I would be very sad if they told me I had to resubmit our petition entirely. I hope they will go easy on us who have been stuck waiting this year.

It's too early to be concerned with what happens in July. I'm sure they have a contingency plan. They have extended some who they are at the interview with a 2-month extension. So, they are considering those cases that are about to expire.

Thanks Greenbaum!

I called the embassy yesterday and also asked them if they had a plan in place. I got a generic response telling me I need to email them with all of the details of our case and they would let me know. I’ll give it a shot and if I get any helpful information I will pass it on here.
